lots of people now use bots and programs to autopost same messages in different forums, even every day or so.
Do you kno any plugins to help prevent this kind of spam?
thanks :)

I'm getting hammered too. Since I took my one forum to vB 3.6.x it slowed down there. I'm going to upgrade the other one tonight.
The .ru domains are the worst. I thought to myself about blocking certain geo locations, but failed to concieve a plan.
So, I'm building my ban list and thank goodness I have good mods. That helps alot. At least when they spam my forums, the links aint live. :D

It is a manual upgrade. You go to the members area and get the files. Upload them and then deal with broken hacks and edited templates.
I just started mine and I'm putting it off yet another day. I probably have 3 hours work and I'm beat. It's too early in the evening anyway.

Upgrades are pretty straight forward Michael, and quite simple to do as long as you haven't done any hard core editing of your vBulletin install.
Most of these automated programs or scripts will share something in common though. You might check your server logs to find out what the header information is from these automated posts and go from there.
I wish I could be of more help mate. Shawn might be a good person to ask though.

I use email account validation and my members under 5 posts cannot post links. Kinda slows them down. I have some spammers joined (recognize the names), but they didn't post, I think they're not interested in posting 5 messages to be able to post a link afterwards :D
