View Full Version : PayPal vs. "All Alternative methods"

PayPal is perhaps the ultimate choice these days if you really want to do a business. Almost all the sites why accept credit card also accept PayPal.

But there must be many members here at DP (like me) who don’t have the luck to get a PayPal account. (Mainly coz their country is not listed)

So what I want to know is, if you don’t have a PayPal account and still want to send & receive payments what alternative method would you chose? (At that point many people will go for moneybookers.com)
I just don’t need an other name, tell me why would you go for it? And if you have any good/bad experience, don’t hesitate to share it here.

I hope this thread will not only be helpful for me but also for hundreds of other members waiting to get hold on a PayPal account.

three are most populors , paypal, strompay, moneybookers . strom pay wants you to use your internet email account email you can try to sign up with them .moneybookers is uk based and send payment worldwide . i have not experienced any of the above but read lot of about it . some peoples say these companies are great others just complain that their account got cancelled . normally such online money transfer companies have lot of restrictions . worst restriction is high chargeback if you get high charge back your account can be cancelled anytime . best way to find them is check ebay auctions and see what other peoples are using to accept money ... but if the amount is significant or you may have patience i would recommend you to get money by check/wife transfer. however there are lo of paid services ( merchant accounts) you may try them if you earn good and may pay their fee .

Paypal is only accepted in 55 countries out of the 200ish countries around. Credit Card however is accepted everywhere so I would say that the alternative would be to use a credit card processor such as 2checkout would have a better global reach.

Find out what option the other person can accept. If you have a credit card and a paypal account, you pretty much covers all grounds.

That is the problem. I don’t have PayPal. (Not yet but trying to get it)
So, the reason i started this thread was, I want to know what other Alternative Methods are popular among people that also have PayPal

Then your best option is moneybookers or e-gold.

I use Paypal because it's accepted everywhere. I really don't like using it and will not use it for anything over a few dollars because I got scammed out of $500+.

I heard e-gold is the safest for sellers. I would most likely use that but I believe it's harder to tranfers money in and out and it's not as popular.

Paypal is only accepted in 1/4 of all the countries in the world, ie 55 countries and it is not accepted everywhere. For some of the countries which it accepts, there are some with very serious restrictions like the ability to send, receive or withdraw funds.

E-Gold is pretty complicating because you cannot buy or sell e-gold from e-gold itself so you need to find a 3rd party who would buy or sell from you. So unless you are dealing a lot through it, it can get really complicating.

I personally believe that as a customer, if you have a credit card, you are pretty much set because almost all merchant accept it.

As a merchant, you can use Xoom.com , Moneybooker.com , ikobo.com, Worldpay or 2checkout. If you are dealing with physical product, CCNow.com . If you are dealing with software sale then Regsoft.com or Plimus.com accepts everything including Paypal.

ikobo.com is perhaps the best option available to me as i can get money sitting here.
Also working on getting PayPal account. And hopefully i will get one soon. :)

I'm recomended moneybookers to reduce chargeback. I think they have good verifications to reduce fraud act. and I don't trust e-gold anymore since much scammer use it to stole your money. paypal also good... but moneybookers is the best for this time....heheheheh :D

Can you use a credit card to pay someone who accepts moneybookers?

Without actually setting up a moneybookers account that is.

(like paypal does now)

I believe you need to set up a Moneybookers account but it is a swift painless process. Go through their tour http://www.moneybookers.com/app/help.pl?s=tour and you understand how it works.

Well, the Moneybookers is not a credit card payment provider in that true sense. You need to fund the account and use that fund to pay the other party.

This is good for MB to avoid scam artists but is just complicated for customers who don't have MB account.
Many will just pass and you will loose customers.

What I have concluded here is that
If you have a PayPal account, you are one lucky person on planet. Coz that account will make most of the things easy for you.

And if you are not so lucky then MB is perhaps the only option for you coz after PayPal people will prefer it over other available options. (E-gold, Xoom, GreenZap, gCard, Ikobo & whatever it is)

Tell me if I am Wrong. :)

I think the only and legal method is to have a partner in the USA

i started a thread (http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=657571) here trying to explain this issue but no ones seems to understand my idea :(

I've tried million of options but in vein .......you can mess around in this section to see that any other option is leading nowhere believe me

and good companies like moneybookers can't replace paypal in anyway at least for current moment
