I didn't have much success with yahoo answers. Although I had hoped that it will convert well as people look for specific things but it looks 90% want free suggestion. What's your experience with Yahoo Answers.

No, yahoo answers give my site very little traffic. I run a forum and have found that people have posted links to me site in lots of yahoo answers - but the amount of traffic is very small. I dont think yahoo answres is in my top 50 or top 100 sources of traffic.

You can expect to have some traffic if you are a regular poster there because the pages are visited by a lot of people regularly.

for me yahoo answer works quite well, i have automated the yahoo ques/ ans step using a macro which runs the whole night while am sleeping.

About 75 % of the ques/answers are still there after 24 hours ! and it brings me targetted traffic which converts well for me .

Yahoo answers might bring you an inbound link or two... but in general the population of Yahoo Answers is very immature and not serious about using it. Don't expect lots of good visits from it. It's visitors will probably be even lower quality than what you would get from Myspace, if you can believe it.

I find it more work than it's worth. I can get visitors but no sales out of Yahoo traffic.

Last month's traffic from Yahoo Answers was 63 visitors. There are some links from Y/A going to a good number of my inner pages. All in all, I'm not sure it's worth the effort, personally.

My foray into using Yahoo Answers for traffic in the MMO niche was interesting but worthless as a traffic generator however for small targeted niches I can see it working.

I never try but I doubt it since yahoo isn't very popular in this field, and I heard the rumor they cheat too.

Yahoo answers can convert very well but you need to follow a few practices:

1. Don't link to a landing page looking site. Something that is more informative and looks like a resource site does better. Sometimes iframing can work great too.
2. Certain niches just do not convert. Do 10 answers per niche, then move on. If you start getting sales from one niche then go back and do more.
3. Be consistent. It's not something that you will be instantly profitable on. Keep submitting answers day after day and slowly your income will increase.

Hope that helps :)

While I don't get ALOT from Yahoo ANswers, I DO still get traffic from questions answered two years ago. It's nice to still see that, even if its only once a day.

Thanks guys, interesting thread. I have tried Yahoo answers, not a lot, but don't really seem to get the traffic. I did buy a report stating how you could make it work but haven't put it into practice - I am guessing that if a lot of other marketers also got the report - that it doesn't work too well as most people are using it as a traffic source .... oh well, back to article marketing.

its depends on the title of the question .. .if the question is frequently search from google ..a higher chance you will get a traffic from search engine . . .are you people expecting trafic directly from yahoo answers?? lol your all wrong. . . we can use yahoo answers to lure the search engine :P

Yahoo answers generates great traffic but the links are no follow and the traffic is not the best to convert, remember yahoo answers is know as the forum to ask dumb questions on (maybe to may kids) but it seems logical to not get high conversions.

mgn465, is it possible you are confusing Yahoo with Yahoo Answers? For many of us (me, too), Yahoo is second in traffic only to Google. But Yahoo Answers is different and for most of us gives very little traffic.

For example, last month I had 13,266 visitors from Yahoo, but only 63 visitors from Yahoo Answers.

its still depends on what niche are you trying to promote and remember to answer it only if its fix on your site category

I get a decent amount of traffic from YA, from answers that I submitted over 8 months ago. That account has since been disabled, but I still get a ton of traffic to a couple specific offers that convert pretty well. Some of the answers pages are actually as high as PR8, although the links are nofollow.

It is depend on the niche, you can get good conversion on games, wallpaper, free stuff niche

designknick
Aug 6th 2009, 5:26 am
I think that your conversion rates with Yahoo answers will depend more so upon the niche than anything. If you are promoting services to a more serious crowd, then your results will be better. So it depends on your product as well. If you are targeting "buyers" then you'll probably get a better response than if you were to go after people looking for free stuff.

You also should be sure that you are giving quality answers. While just posting a link might give one or two visitors, a high quality answer should give you some decent traffic. And of course, the more traffic you get, the more conversions you stand to gain.

I am getting at least 5-10 visitors daily from Yahoo answers. But all depends on your niche. I have tried on make money online niche. It didn't work for me. But for pet niche, I am so successful with Yahoo! answers. Hope this will help you to choose...

I think with Yahoo Answers, people are going there for "answers" not to make a purchase. So it may bring traffic to your site, but not many conversions. Which seems to be the consensus here.

True. However, if you offer freebies, then different story.
