Hello There,
I am considering paying the $299(more because I am paying Canadian Funds) for a listing in the Yahoo directory to try and bumpy my 3 month old Blog from position 8 on Google for Halifax Real Estate to somewhere near the top. Will it be worth it or not? Thanks in advance!

The Yahoo directory alone probably won't push you near the top. It will help a bit, but if you want to be up near the top you'll probably need a few links from well trusted sites like Yahoo. In your case you should be focusing on Canadian links, especially ones related to Nova Scotia. A Yahoo directory listing also puts you on yahoo.ca which is a big plus. If you have the money there are maybe a dozen paid web directories that help much. Just think of what that top ranking would be worth to you. For real estate, one sale is quite a bit of money. So investing a portion of that would be a smart decision. Don't be afraid to invest when the payoffs would be huge.

Those people who have their sites listed in Yahoo directory, do you receive any traffic from there?

Thanks for your feedback! I went for the listing last evening shortly after I posted this on here due to my research and the fact that I have been getting a few deals out of my sites recently. I appreciate the help and wish you all the best vansterdam.

Hello,
Other trusted directories are botw.org (paid), business.com(paid), dmoz.org (free, but sometime hard to become listed).
Best regards,
Jakomo

I listed with Yahoo Directory and it helped a bit, and gives an occasional visitor, but so far I don't believe its worth the $300...

I have one site permanently (aka free) listed in there, and there really is no way to tell how much or how little it influenced my SERPs.
I am really interested in paying to have my best affiliate site listed in there, but I'm afraid that it will get rejected for being an affiliate site, and I'll lose the $300.

Don't waste your money. Buy a high PR link from a site first. ~~~~~Yahoo=garbage~~~~~~

I should say... don't waste your money there.. I have tried it and I got better results from Wordpress theme links than the Y directory... Also, there are cheaper ways to get high PR backlinks

Yeah.. There are disadvantages with the free services but at least it's
free and you are not risking any money.. If it doesn't work then why you worry about it, since all you have rendered is the effort and not the bucks
