Hello.
I've started to build a "Standards Compliant Websites Directory". A Web Directory where only Valid W3C sites will be accepted.
The URL is: http://compliant-websites.seoed.com
Please feel free to submit sites, only VALID sites. You can also mail me (razvan@cpea.ro) the info and I will submit them.
Directory has only categories, no subcategories, because i didn't manage to use mod_rewrite for subcategories. If anyone is willing to help with this I'll be very happy.
Also, if you have ideas of news categories please post.
No backlinks required, only requirement is VALID XHTML/HTML and CSS!

Bookmarked your site & and will submit some sites in a few days.
From what I have seen out there very few sites will validate and your directory will be very small.
Good Luck.

I have never taken the time to understand the fuss with W3C. How do you know it validates? Why do you care? Does it provide a better user experience?

I care. :)
Maybe not better, but equal user experience. I'm not trying to convince anyone to use Standards.
How do I know it validates?

I hope you did not take my comments as harsh, it was merely a question.

nice idea, I submitted.
you have a typo on the submit page though: "Please make sute that your HTML/XHTML and CSS are valid. Not valid sites will be deleted."
probably mean "sure" ;)

I should start branding the directory and spread the word, but i'm such a novice. :)
Anyone wants to get involved?

Hi Razvan
Nice idea. I've submitted and linked back from my Web Site Design Resources (http://www.web-design-newcastle.co.uk/web-site-design-resources.asp) page.
All the best with the task ahead. ;)

if you really want that directory to take off I would recommend making it exist on its own domain (not a subdomain).

You can get them for less than $8/year these days.

I like the Idea - I agree, it's about quality over quantity, but you do need a few more listings...
I have seen another standards compliant directory before, if I can find the URL I'll let you know what it is.
If I were you, I'd just go out looking for sites.
There are a lot out there. Dannt sullivan's site (mostly all the big names) it should be pretty easy to populate but it will take a while. Will submit our site. ; )

Your site has been accepted.
Is anyone here skilled in PHP? The script could use a little tweaking. I'm not satisfied with it.
Of course, no payment. :)
I want this to be a community project.
