Hi all,

We are looking for a new logo for our hosting website template: http://g.imagehost.org/0454/well_hosted.png

Qualifications/Rules:

* All content must be original and unique!
* Copyright is transfered to us upon delivery.
* Logo must be provided in vector and raster formats. Hopefully in as many of the following as possible: AI, EPS, JPG, GIF, PNG, PSD, TIF, BMP, PDF, SVG, WMF.
* Payments will be made to the designer via Paypal

We are looking for a logo that can be used at the top of our website. Colour wise and design wise, we are unsure what would work best with our website, so we thought we would leave it to you creative guys to decide. The logo that is currently on the website has been put in place as a temporary measure just to show the wording of the logo (it's a .co.uk site), therefore please don't take your inspiration from that.

If possible try to include your logo in a screen shot of our template so we can have a better feel of what it will look like.

Thank you in advance for all entries, and I will post back with feedback whenever I can...

Leaving for work, so just a quickie...

Thank you for the entries so far, however, non of them are what I am really looking for, sorry.
I'm looking for the logo to really gel with the website, look professional, and something I can really use as 'branding' for well hosted in the future.

Keep those entries coming, and I'll catch up with you all later!

By the way, don't be put off by my first post requiring all of those file types. As long as I have a vector format and any fonts used as the minimum, that would do. All of the file types would just be a bonus to me ;)

Thanks.

Hello,

Here are a few concepts:

http://img13.imageshack.us/img13/566/logosamp.jpg

Obviously the first few are very professional looking, as you had asked for, and would definitely be respected by anyone visiting your site.

The bottom right concept on the other hand is just that, a concept. If you like the idea best, then of course I can create a proper logo out of it – at the moment it's just there for illustrative purposes.

Let me know what you think,

Adrian

Thanks again for all entries so far.

My initial findings and feedback in post order:

Hanan - Not really what I'm looking for, sorry.

Icey011 - Again, Not really what I'm looking for, sorry.

efragoso - Simple, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I'm afraid I don't like the graphic on the submitted logo, sorry.

Katesrobyn - Nice first attempt, but th colours, although similar, are not quite fitting with the site. I'm also unsure about the font, sorry.

jnjnnino - Nice attempts. I prefer the second post's logo, although I'm unsure about using the PC's for the graphic?

otakatun - Again, nice attempt, but the colours again, although similar, do not quite fit with the sites pastel looking colours. I'm also unsure what the upside down smiley face graphic represents?

RaduTRIFAN - Nice first attempt. Simple and to the point. I see the 'Well' doesn't quite fit i the circle however. Also, I think a separate logo before the text might be better so I can use it for a favicon/branding etc. maybe some variations?

TheAge - Again, nice first attempt. Although the first 3 lgo's look ok, I'm unsure how they would look on top of the website, and I don't think they would fit it. Original looking though, and I like the fact that the graphical part could be used as a favicon/branding. Any variations? Showing the logo on top of the website would also be helpful for me...

weblazer - Wrong wording and a little generic looking, sorry.

nosfis - Wrong spelling, and not really what I'm looking for, sorry.

^_^DesignGuru - Although I can see what you have done with the graphical element of the logo (quite clever), I don't think it really works. Also, I'm afraid I don't like the font choice, sorry. I can see you're a capable designer though, so feel free to try again!

ploomer - I like it. Nice first attempt. Again, I like the fact that the graphical part could be used as a favicon/branding. Any variations on the theme? Also, could I see it on top of the website to see how it 'fits in'?

Neoni - The red parts/colours of the site will probably be changing (sorry, should have said), therefore the red coulour of the logo won't be appropriate, sorry. Also, it's a little generic looking...

icey011 - Not really what I'm looking for, sorry.

Jokomamamita - Nice simple looking design, and good first attempt.I'm unsure about the globe graphic however. Variations on the theme please?

nosfis - Not really what I'm looking for, sorry.

I hope the feedback helps everybody. Feel free to post/PM any other questions I can help with.

Whilst looking through the logo's, I think having a graphic then the wording might be better (like most of you have done) as I see the graphical element being used as a favicon, or perhaps as 'branding' on its own. Also having the 'well' and 'hosted' words in different colours seems to work better than ' well hosted' all in one colour. Saying that, remember that you are the designer, and if you think you can change my mend, feel free to submit what you think might be the winner!

Thanks all so far, and keep them coming!

Hi again,

Thank you for entries/revisions.

Again, here's feedback which I hope helps everybody. If you need more information, or you are unsure of my thoughts, feel free to post or PM.

CHSajid - Thanks for the logo. Although I can see that the logo has been professionally made/designed, the swirly graphic is not really what I'm looking for, sorry

otakatun - Hi again. Great idea with the graphic part of the logo. The W and H are clearly visible, however, I don't like the spheres circling the graphic (too generic looking). Also, the text doesn't really fit I feel. I think it's the wrong font (something beefier like jokomamamita's I like), and the colours, again, don't really fit with the pastel blues and greys of the site. If you could polish the graphic and text and post some variations?

katesrobyn - Good to see a different approach, but I feel it's not really what I'm looking for, sorry. Again, I think I like the beefier fonts like jokomamamita's better.

logorice - Thanks for the entry. Nice first attempt. Again, I like the fresh approach of the graphic. Although I can see the W and H in the graphic part of the logo, could this be made slightly more clearer at all? Also, I think I prefer the text on one line with a beefier font. Some variations on the theme would be great.

nosfis - Thanks for the logo's. I'm afraid they remind me to much of the temporary logo that is on the site however, sorry.

Aderain - Thanks for the entry. I think the logo and font used are a bit thin looking, and not really in keeping with the site, sorry.

jnjnnino - Thanks for the revisions. I'm afraid I'm still unsure about the computers in the graphic, sorry (I deliberately didn't go for computer/server pictures on the website, as many hosting sites do).

^_^DesignGuru - Hi again. Thanks for the revisions, and for showing favicon, nice. Although I like it more than the last concept, and I can see how the W and H are represented in the graphic part of the logo, I don't think the H comes through very clear. Also, I'm not sure the font goes with the site? Making the colours of the logo more pastel like I think would make the logo gel better.

raduTRIFAN - Thanks for the revisions. Although I like them, as I mentioned previously, I think a graphic and then the wording would help me, as I'm hoping to use the graphic for branding/favicon etc. Also making the colours more pastel like to keep in with the website I feel.

ploomer - Thanks for the revisions. I'm unsure of which colour I like best now! I like the simplicity of the graphic, and how it looks on top of the web site, and the thin line between the graphic and the text (your last picture in your post). In fact, I'm worried that it might be too simplistic compared to the other entries, but feel that, at the moment, I should go with my initial feeling. My only suggestion is to see if you can polish the logo at all. Maybe trying different fonts/shading to really finish it off? I'll leave the polishing up to you though ;)

DrDesigner - Thanks for the entry. I like the new concept, but I'm worried that the H gets lost slightly, and the graphic is slightly too 'blocky'? Also, I think a different/larger font would be nice...

jokomamamita - Thanks for the revision. Out of all of the logos, initially, I liked your text/font the most. Having the tag line underneath is also a new twist, but as I don't have a tag line (and wouldn't use that one), I'm unsure it would work. Maybe if I had a decent tagline... Also, I'm afraid I don't like the graphic part of the logo, sorry. Although I can see what you have done with the W and H, I think it's quite hard to see, and looks a little generic.

nosfis - Again, thanks for the entry. I'm sorry though but, although the concept is sound, I don't think the colours/finish really matches the site, sorry.

I really hope the feedback helps everybody. I didn't think/know that analyzing and posting feedback would be so hard and time consuming!

My findings from the entries so far:

- keeping the colours (blues/greys) pastel like in keeping with the site colours rather that just any blue and black seems the way to go.

- I think having a graphic and then the text seems the way forward also, as I'm hoping to use the graphic on its own for future branding, and perhaps a favicon etc. Ploomer's idea of having the graphic and text separated by a fine line looks cool too I think (here (http://picturebay.net/img/guests/928319919/logo3.jpg))

- I think the font used is also a big deal. I like the chunkier font used by jokomamamita, and I think it fits in with the site better. You being the designers though, feel free to prove me wrong...

The bottom line is that I want the logo to look as if the website was designed around the logo. Not that the logo was an afterthought and stuck on afterwards. That is why I think getting the pastel like blues, greys and blacks are so important. Also, why I wanted to see the logo with the website if possible. That way, I can see if the logo looks part of the site, not an afterthought.

Thank you again to everybody, and please keep those entries/revisions coming!

Hi again all,

Again, thank you for all new entries and revisions.

I have less time to post all individual feedback tonight, sorry. As the contest is hotting up now, I'd like to post all positive findings, and quick pointers to those I feel are on the right track. Others I don't have time to mention, feel free to take this on board to perhaps revise your logo.

We have established that I think a separate graphic element and then the text is the way forward.

My favourite GRAPHIC elements from the logos so far are from:

Ploomer - I still like the simplicity of your graphic. I have had feedback from others though (I have had as many people as I can view this thread for their opinions) that the graphic may be read as a U and a H instead of a W and a H. Rather than have the straight line as the cut off where it is, would it be possible to do a quick gradient between the colours, or can you come up with another idea that may help? As mentioned earlier I also like your very thin graphite line that is placed between your logo and text. ;) The text however I think needs a change. Please see below...

DrDesigner - A late entry, but the feedback I have had from your graphic element has been good, if slightly mixed. Most like it, whilst some have said they didn't. When asked why though they couldn't really say. They mentioned it looking heavy/blocky or too black. Not a lot of help, sorry. Can this be polished at all (lighting/shading?)?

logorice - The graphic element on your latest revision in nice and different. I like, and can see, the W and the H in there fine (although others have said they didn't see this and thought it was a floppy disk!). I'm unsure of the thick grey circle around the graphic however. Maybe without it, or with a thinner kind of line? Again, I'll leave this up to you. Also, again, a polish up of the graphic (some light/shadow etc...) might be nice. I also think that the text needs to be lower case and the format changed slightly. Please see below.

My favourite TEXT elements from the logos so far are from:

DrDesigner - I think your text in the logo looks fine. I think the colours fit well and I like the fact you have not left a space between the words, but capitalised them. The different colours of the words also negates the need for the space. The subtle mirroring is nice too.

Jokomamamita - I like your text layout, and two tone colours (with the arc, not just a straight line), and I think that it fits in well with the web site. (I'm afraid I'm not taken on the graphical element again, sorry).

Please remember, the colour of the text is very important too, and I think the above examples show this...

Like I said before, the feedback above is for everybodyto work with, not just feedback aimed at individual designers this time, so feel free for everybody to use it.

If there is anybody who feels they would like/need individual feedback on their logo, please let me know (even after the contest has ended) and I will give it when I can...

One last thing, I have received entries via PM, and I'm unsure how to go about reviewing them for the benefit of everybody. I may contact any new entries that I get via PM and ask them to post to the thread only.

Thank you all again.

Hi again,

just some really quick feedback!

logorice - Thanks for the revision. I'm still unsure about the logo with the circle around I'm afraid, and the feedback I have had from others is that it's looking a little too much like a floppy disk. Sorry.

jokomamamita - Thanks for the revision. I'm afraid that, although your logo has been your best yet, it isn't quite as good for branding etc. as others, sorry. It's a shame, as from your first revision I have liked your text style and colours one of the most.

ploomer - Thank you for your revision. I think the graphic element for the logo is fantastic. I feel that the text element might need tweaking however (colours, maybe font?), but I find it hard to gauge without seeing it on top of my web site. I have sent you a PM.

Thanks again all!

Hi all,

With new entries being submitted, and also others working on revisions, I thought I should let it be known that, at the moment, the contest is down to a four horse race for me (although I realise that this IS a competition, I feel it unfair to have people working away unnecessarily).

My favourite four designs are by:

ploomer - (last revision) I love the graphic element, but as I mentioned in my PM, I would love to see it on the top of my web page to make sure the colours, and the text fits 'just so'. Even though you posted that this would be your last revision, I'm hoping you wouldn't mind changing the text and colour slightly if need be. I'm sure the graphic doesn't need any more 'tweaking'. ;) let me know if you're happy to work with me on the colours and text if need be (remember that they might be ok as they are, I just need to check first!)...

jokomamamita - (last revision) As I have previously mentioned, your text element of the logo I love, I just didn't take to the graphic element immediately, however, the more I look at it, the more I like it. Also, I have positive feedback from others saying they liked it too.

DrDesigner - (last revision) Thank you for your revision and different previews of the logo on the site. very helpful. Again, I am receiving positive feedback from others about this logo saying that it fits well with the web site. I also like the style/colours of the text.

logorice - (last revision) Thank you for your revision. I think the graphical element of the logo looks a lot better. I would probably like to see it without the light grey square so the logo just contained the W and H. The text element of the logo, although a lot better, might be slightly blocky/bulky I feel. Lastly, I also think the 'shine' added to the graphic and text looks better when applied as an arc rather than just a horizontal line ( like jokomamamita's and DrDesegners).

Again, I really hope this has helped everybody, and I know it's going to be really hard for me to pick a winner, but I suppose that's the nature of the competition! Everybody else who hasn't been mentioned, fell free to carry on entering if you like, I just thought it fair for me to give my thoughts so far...

Thank you.

Thank you for the feedback.

Any more changes? May I know what you think about my graphical element?
Also, if you like the logo as a whole yourself (Since it seems that only the people who left positive feedbacks are the only ones liking it)

Kiddin' though ;)

Hi again all,

Off to bed now, and I'm up and out fairly early tomorrow for the day, so it might be Sunday before I can post back. Hopefully we can get this wrapped up then.

Cheers,

TT.

Thanks for liking my design (logo) the more you look at it. =)

Do let me know if you want me to do another try on the logo or if you are planning to consider my last revision's logo, that would be great as well. Thanks.

Anyway, I thought of doing a change on the logo by inverting its color, so that it goes along with the navigation bar. If you noticed the logo, the middle part resembles sort of a 'house' which is 'well' surrounded or well kept, and hopefully that tallies with the name itself, 'Well Hosted', besides the combination of W and H as I mentioned in my previous post. =)

Here it is:

Thanks Jokomamamita, I like it.

I'm finding it quite hard to select a winner now, and I prefer the inverted colors on the logo. Would it be much you to do if I wanted to see the logo without the tag line, as I don't have one at the moment (although I think it would look good if I did!)

Thanks.

Hi all,

I am amazed at the quality and amount of entries for this logo competition. Friends and family are also amazed, and I know of at least two that will be carrying out the the same kind of contest soon.

Picking a winner has been very, very hard due to the quality of logos. Initially, I found that I liked certain things about certain entries, but with newer revisions coming thick and fast, this changed and the entries were outstanding, as mentioned above.

The winner on this occasion, although a closely run thing, is ploomer (money sent). I originally liked the simplicity of the graphical element to his logo, and it just got better with each revision. There may be a slight bit of work required on the colour/font, but ploomer has assured me he will work with me to get it 'just so'.

I feel I have to give a special mention to jokomamamita too. I loved the font/style chosen on her first entry, and her final revision really made me struggle to pick a winner as her graphical element came together so well, and looked great. I didn't metion awarding a second place, and it certainly wasn't something I intended to do from the offset, however jokomamamita gets this spot, and I'll drop you over a PM. ;)

Thank you to everybody else for their entries, and I'm just sorry I can't afford to buy them all...

Congrats Ploomer & Jokomamamita. Thank you CH, for the contest. And don't worry, as long as you've chosen the logo you think is right, then we're glad for you.

Too bad there was no 3rd place ;)
