Google cares more about quality links, while Yahoo places more weight on quantity of links. So you often need a greater volume of links for Yahoo rankings. Yahoo also cares about internal link structure and keyword use in those internal links.

Yes Yahoo likes to see mass links pointing at websites for giving them good rankings, especially for the touch and competitive niches.

This is just speculation. I haven't been able to do a full test of this, but it seems like the more common a link anchor going to all parts of your site (not just your domain name) will typically dominant.
So lets say you have a site on Magic Cards. You have a page for magic card tips, magic card tactics, magic card buyers guide and all of these pages have links with the exact same names. Well, your root domain would probably rank for magic card if you had the words on it.

yahoo gives more weight to the number of backlinks whether site-wide or not. Backlinks with keyword as anchor text is also very important for yahoo. Backlinks from sites that rank well in yahoo, sites listed in yahoo directory. Sites listing in yahoo directory will obviously help.

For me it is the opposite. I have several first page result for high competition keyword phrases for yahoo. The thing i notice is that yahoo love backlinks. The more the better, also your title, description meta tags and Url are very important for yahoo. That's my experience with my sites.

Also yahoo put a lot of inportance on title tags, meta description tags and the url. You can put your keyword more than once in those and it will boost your ranking. That's what i experience on my sites.

for yahoo , the onpage factors count more then what they do in google. If you have the proper keywords research done , have linked keywords and proper keyword density then you should be fine...
special focus should be on ;
Meta tags they should have keywords ,don't abuse though ....

If you really care about Yahoo, I would recommend having seperate websites and optimizing some for Yahoo and the others for Google.

For me personally I find that constantly changing page titles and meta data works very well.
It can be a lot of hassle though and can negatively effect Google rankings.

I think yahoo need a lot of time to crawl your site than google. It will come time that you will see the same result on yahoo and google. this happened for my blog after about 1 yr.

For Yahoo, you may want to read How to Optimize for Yahoo! (http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=488172)
Though a bit old, the principles do still stand.

the point remains the same.. even when yahoo is sending less traffic there are less people using yahoo at the same time

this is really weird... 3 years ago Yahoo used to be easier than Google to optimize for... now it's the total opposite, it's becoming a real nightmare to have 1st page on both Google and Yahoo... it's like if you optimize for Google, you lose your Y! ranking... I'm wondering if perhaps it's done on purpose

Hey, for Yahoo, the onpage factors are more important. Having keywords in the title tags, heading tags, and content help. Also, proper url's etc help. Focus on proper on page seo. You can read this on page seo guide (http://www.seohu.com/on-page-optimisation/on-site-seo/) or check out this (http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1313077) thread on dp for more info about on page seo factors.

First you have to understand that Yahoo is not popular than Google .. because mostly peoples prefer Searching on Google that;s why we cant get lots of visitors & 1 more thing Either your Website is not in top 10 Search result of yahoo.. That;s why Or Dur to average volume of keywords ...
