Considering bailing on squidoo, thoughts?

I am planning on starting a massive article writing marathon, and in the past squidoo has been one of the sites I have targeted. I am thinking of abandoning it, since it looks like google is devaluing it more and more every time I read a trhread about it on DP.

I haven't targeted ezine as much, so I would replace it with that. Is that a better choice than squidoo?

Absolutely not!

I would challege anyone who claims that Google is devaluing Squidoo to offer some sort of proof - I don't see any such decline.

At the end of the day, Squidoo is best leveraged by those who perform the keyword research necessary to rank for terms that have good search volume and low comptetition. If you continue to do that, your lenses will get found.

Without aggressive promotion, your lenses may take time to climb the ranks, but if you are out there getting backlinks to your lenses, they will perform.


Don't give up - Squidoo is a great place to develop a web presence, funnel traffic, and get backlinks to your sites :-)

I have used Linkvana (as seen in sig) to build a bunch of backlinks to my declining Squidoo lenses and I saw a huge increase in traffic. In a week my traffic more than doubled so i think Google is really seeing which Lenses have authority by seeing how many backlinks they have and ranking them based on that.

A better choice is to combine the two. Build a Squidoo lens, then submit an article on the same topic to EzineArticles with a link back to the lens.

I would say both is a good idea yes. I've never interlinked them, but have found that the two can rank well, particularly as surfin4dough says when backlinks are added. Try some social bookmarking as well for easy links.

I still see Squidoo as a leading way to build backlinks and traffic to your site. Making quality lenses is important.

Ezine is alright for backlink aswell but i prefer Squidoo.

Yeah, Squidoo is dofollow - at least for all of my lenses. Another site that's good for this (shameless plug) is a professional network site that I created called Pro Spotlight (http://www.prospotlight.com). The site is dofollow and makes it possible for you to create a mini website, blog, profile, etc on any topic you want (as long as it revolves around some sort of profession - which I don't think will be a problem).

wha ? I've seen hundreds Squidoo lens that are do-follow... :cool:
