My press releases tend to be given a 4 out of 5 by the editors at various PR sites. Is there a common way to word this for marketing purposes? Is there an industry slang term for it? I haven't come across one yet...

Thanks!

A press release is just a press release isn't it? :)

I think prweb.com gives out their own rating, but I'm not sure anyone apart from prweb.com knows how they come up with this rating.

Okay, so there isn't an overall industry term? That's fine. I just didn't want to sound like a tool if there was some easy way to say it.

Thanks!

Nope, not that I have heard one.

You could do a define: press release in Google and see if it comes up with any other terms.

No such thing as an industry term. :) And I wouldn't get overly excited about PRweb's rankings either. Like I've told other people, always take it with a grain of salt... remember, if they give you a 4, they can try to sell you more upgrades that your release magically becomes "eligible" for. It's in their best interest to give a 4 rather than a 3, and as long as it follows their most basic guidelines, they're easy to get... lots of people even get that writing their own release.

Focus more on the coverage. If you can show instances where your press releases were picked up by major media outlets (not reprinted, but used to inspire a unique article or interview), that's what sets you apart... not a PRweb ranking. ;) Since you won't want to track everything (since clipping is a whole different service in and of itself), just ask that your clients give you a heads up if they're contacted about a feature.

Okay, cool. Thanks! I didn't figure it was the end all be all of writing, since a 4 is not the top number. :) I simply didn't know if there was something catchy like PR4 is for page ranks....

Thanks!
