$50 Logo with mascot contest

Hi everyone,

I need a logo with a cartoon character/mascot in it. Basically, the name of the site with the character integrated on the left. Please visit the site to get an idea of the template I'm working with. Your logo will replace the placeholder logo that's there at the moment.

Cartoon character:
- Black, young, in his 20s, smirk
- Diamond earring on left ear
- Wearing a black suit with undone tie
- Preferably, full body, with white sneakers

Payment by Paypal. I'd like to have a winner before Sunday night EST, but I'll let it run longer if needed.

This is my first contest guys, but I'll do my best to check the contests regularly to give quick reviews.

@ zyndtel: Nice entry! The general concept is exactly what I'm looking for. About the character, could you try with a slightly smaller nose? Also, the right arm not showing seems off, can you make it more look like the other hand is in his pocket as well? As for the name of the site - it looks good, is the darker shade of brown for "BROWN" the same color than the skin color? If not, can you make it the same?

Thanks for the feedback. Here's with changes. The brown is the same it just looks different because of the black lining in the character and no lining in the text.

Much better, great. Not much else to say, except maybe trying one with a diamond earring instead of gold, not sure which one would look better.

Other than that, I like it, will have to wait to see what the others come up with :)

Nice one. The character as a whole looks good. Love what you did with the tie. The shoes are the way I want them. The facial expression could have a little more attitude or emotion though, can you try to do something about the face? My other concern is will it fit nicely on the template I'm using, given the height of the character in comparison with the site name? Also, I think "CARLITO" would be better in black, what do you think?

I think as a whole I like your character the best at the moment. Very sharp! But, the right arm looks off (like zyndtel's first entry), can you make it so we see the right hand in the pocket as well? Also, I don't like the shoes, too small and the tip/front of the shoe should be rounder and bumpier if you know what I mean, like plugzzzz's one. Aside from that, how would you integrate the site name with your design, can you show me?

here is my entry. I went for something much more vibrant and relaxed with lower caps logo, bright oranges and no suit jacket. Also I think the black/orange theme suits the website well...

I like how you used the same color scheme (black/orange) so that it matches the template. However, I don't like the character. I don't know how to explain it, but he doesn't look black, he almost looks like a black Bruce Lee.

Good first entry, but I don't think the name of the site looks very sharp. The character is cool, but I don't like him as much as some others.
