There are people who maintain niche blogs but all they do is post paid blogposts with 2-3 contextual links. Those blogs will have good PR but neither do they have real traffic nor worthwhile content. Is it worth getting such links?

I am thinking it may not be a good idea. It is easy for search engines to check for the pattern of these blogpost which would have 2-3 content links pointing to the same domain. Links do not carry much juice perhaps.

They do help, but their effects quickly die off once your post moves to page #2. A lot of these blogs end up getting penalized for selling links. So it probably is best not to associate with these types of blogs. In time Google will get better at detecting these sites and they will get penalized more frequently.

Anchor Text links definitely help. I'd make sure they are from a site that is related are the worth of them sucks.

I wouldn't buy blog posts from 'review only' blogs. They are easy to get reported and won't get any traffic anyway.

Irrespective of that, you shouldn't rely on one single SEO technique for your websites. Diversify your link portfolio so that your sites won't loose rank if search engine decide to slap one of the tricks.

some sites are strictly paid only sites. some have a mix of paid and non paid posts. if you are considering in-content links as one of your link building techniques, i would recommend the following:

make sure their site content is relative to your site content
check to see if the publisher creates a good amount of non-sponsored posts (i don't buy on "paid only" sites, but a few paid posts is ok. you can tell right away if they're paid by looking at the anchor text.)
see if the categories pertain to topics related to your site. conversely, make sure there aren't any suspicious categories (ie Gaming, Poker, etc)
try to get 2 links per post: one to the home page and one to a category/article page. make sure anchor text is accurate
make sure their blogroll/sidebar links aren't pointing to porn/pills/poker sites

If the site is advertising that they do it then don't bother. Someone will eventually issue a Spam Report on them and your links will be rendered worthless (as will every outbound link from that blog).

If, however, you find a relevant blog and negotiate a deal with them offline... have at it. Just know, as one of the previous posters indicated, that as soon as your review moves off of the blog's homepage and into their archives, the links will help you less and may not help you at all anymore if the archived page is not indexed.

depends on where you get it from. there are some sites that are legit sites with content and sell occational posts. it is ok to get a post from those sites. sites that sells posts as a business model, i wouldn't get any post from them as they are nothing but link farms
