maybe you were making link exchange with someone and that someone has quit the web business with the site you were exchanging links

Have you noticed any problem with the server? I mean during robot crawling ....any server down issues can also result in the loss of backlinks.

First of all check whether the site is in accordance with Yahoo Guidelines or not.

More backlinks is the answer:

Maybe try neurolinker system (http://www.neurolinker.org) - see how it works for you :)

Mine seem to have come back now to the same level as they were yesterday but i still dont know why it happened in the first place . Maybe it was just a load of old links being deleted?.

I think the person who'v/d your link building stuff, might have generated temporary links for you, still i suggest you to wait, yahoo may updating database. Gud luck..

Having the same problem. Lost almost 500 back links in the past 2 or 3 days according to Yahoo! Not sure if it's me or them though as I'm also noticing a big drop in my Google SERPS as well.

Ouch! Usually Neglected websites face such problem. Once the visitors start coming, you should try to keep them rolling.

Did you make any major changes?

I notice that if you have more than 1 link one some site, at first the crawler will count them all, but later it will remove the unnessesary links and leave only 1-2 links from a site. For example if you have a sitewide link on some site, first will count all the links, later remove some, but the result is the same anyway.
