Yahoo has a weird ranking algorithm compared to Google. I have sites that are on the first page of Google for their main keywords but their no where to found on Yahoo or MSN. Besides, who these days uses Yahoo anyway?

Theres really no comparison between G and Yahoo. Google's algorithms are much more accurate. Search results are almost always more RELEVANT, which is really what search is all about.

Theres really no comparison between G and Yahoo. Google's algorithms are much more accurate. Search results are almost always more RELEVANT, which is really what search is all about.

Really? Care to provide some examples? If din that more than 90% of the time, not only are more than 30% of the top 10 listings in Google irrelevant, but are almost always either dead URL's or MFA sites.

When I think of search I think of Google. The best and the worst friend there is.

Yahoo was the no.1 according to Alexa for a long time. It's over with that though. The big G has the no.1 spot now. I seriously doubt that Yahoo will ever be able to compete with Google from now on.

I've found, particularly recently that it depends what you're looking for. If you're searching for a biiig presence on the web, google will find it and rank it high but if you're doing a more detailed search, I've found that Yahoo and live.com are better. Google depends too much on pagerank, ie popularity - the big (popular) sites drown out the little sites which can often have the info you're seeking.

all my sites are indexed in both search engines and on average they appear in the same page of the results for any particular keyword, however google sends in like 10 times more traffic than yahoo, and I also noticed that people coming in from google buy more when compared to visitors coming in from yahoo (percentage-wise)

That's completely incorrect. Google makes most of it's money off of adsense and advertising, and it does not at all correlate to it's search engine.

I like some google features that are missing from yahoo, but google got popular due to gmail and shallow trendiness, nothing more.

I use both, and yahoo gives me the most useful results easily. When there's something more obscure, I go to google, but google also packs a bunch of junk results.

This question is almost obvious. Of cause Google is better than Yahoo and that is why they have laterally surpassed yahoo during their short time of operation.

At least for the search engine user, Google is the best. But when it comes to webmasters, there may be a bit of discussions on this, but i think Google still beats yahoo on that angle after all they have the highest traffic and their traffic to me is more targeted than yahoo' traffic.

Google has used its relevance role to build a search engine that is so appealing to its users, that is why they are doing so well.

Isn't it kinda irrelevant since Yahoo is giving up and going to become powered by Bing search in the future? Obviously they've conceded victory to Google. Myself, I am just far too comfortable with Google, despite wanting to at least try Bing for a while, can't bring myself to do it for more than one or two searches here and there.
