Hi guys.

I need a logo for my new site, which you can see here:

(it is .com)

So, what do I want?
- Something with a web2.0 feel
- Not just text, I can do that ;)
- Creativity! I know there are some amazing designers on DP so lets get those creative juices flowing!

Please don't put the twitter logo onto the logo, as this could get my in copyright trouble.

Now, I know how frustrating it is for designers when they don't get good feedback, so I'll do my best to make sure you get detailed feedback on the designs you submit :)

Please post all entries in the thread, as it makes it fairer for all contestants. If there is any idea stealing, I'll just ban the theif from making more entries ;)

Hi Puddinlover, thanks for the entry.
Couple of suggestions for improvement:
- Add in a couple of colours, it looks very monotone with only the blue.
- Make the slogan a bit less dominant. Also, not too keen on the font for the title.
- Make it a bit more web2.0.

I'm not really into the second design, so I'll just provide feedback for the first as I think the same advice applies to both.
- Not really liking the font or the colour of the text.
- Like the concept of the 'W', but think it needs to be a bit more clear.
- More web 2.0 please.

Futtbucker, thanks for the entry.
This is my favourite so far, liking the idea behind it as well as the web2.0 :) Here's a couple of ideas:
- Try putting the circle around 'DT' in a lighter colour (maybe like the grey you used), then the letters in the blue you used?
- Generally try and make the actual logo bit different in terms of colour.
Like I say, really like the concept. If you want to make the above changes and maybe submit some other concepts that'd be great :)

Quite like the concept, could you try making the bird a bit smaller and putting it in a circle or something like that? Sorry, not really got any further suggestions for it at the moment, very strong entry.

Think I prefer the second one as it'd be more suited, but thanks for both the entries. I really like the colours in this, very bold and attention grabbing. Feedback wise, very similar to Creations4You, just put some sort of a frame around the bird (probably circle).

Futtbucker. Hi again, thanks for resubmitting so quickly. Really liking this one, although I'm not sure on the colouring of the 'DT'. I think it'd look really good if you put some sort of gradient on the letters.

I'm not entirely sure about the logo part of the design, doesn't really fit with the site or anything like that. Also, I'm not really into the green, much prefer a silver/grey colour as it matches better with the site. I like the idea about having a generic logo that would fit a general site rather than a bird or something, so I like the way you're thinking.

Cheaf, I'm quite liking that one, brilliant idea. Not too keen on the 'D' and 'T' being joined though, would rather they were two seperate letters. Maybe also get rid of the outer ring so that there are only 3 rings there. Another strong entry :)

Cheafynelu, prefer the first design out of those two, although the wings on the second one is growing on me. I'm still not too keen on the letters, would rather they were one colour. Also, could you make the line across the top of the 'T' a bit bigger, looks really squashed. Thanks :)

Surya, sorry, not too keen on it. I don't think the font really suits the site, and if I'm honest I'm not keen on the colours. Also not sure about the 'O' in decorate and the question mark shape that comes out of 'Twitter'. Sorry, really not into it, so would rather you didn't carry on with this concept.

That said, I would love for you to try another concept with a bit more of a 'web 2.0' feel. Thanks.

Cheafynelu, the first one is what I mean, except now the T is bigger than the D and it looks wonky :o Basically, I think the font makes the 'T' look too squashed in capital. I really like the font in the main words, but for the initials I don't think it's going to work.

Futtbucker, that's really nice, absolutely love it. I think on that concept you've pretty much made it as good as it'll go, but if you want to submit more concepts that would be awesome :)

Watari, thanks for the first entry. I'm really liking this concept, it's got potential for sure. Could you please change teh rainbow text colour though, so 'Decorate' was one colour and 'Twitter' was another. If you could give it a 'web 2.0' feel that'd be awesome, too. Cheafynelu, sorry to say but I think you've taken a step backwards here :o I don't like the outline around the font, and would rather there weren't capital letters on 'DecorateTwitter'. Thanks for submitting again, and I hope to see more

JM Designs, nice idea but I'm afraid I'm not too keen on it. I don't really want the use of black as it doesn't look smooth enough on my site. I'm also not into the boxes around the text, would rather it was all free. Give it a bit more of a web2.0 feel, lose the boxes and lose the black and it could be really good.

Creations4you, looks a lot better, thanks for the update. Now I look closer, I'm not too keen on the font. I really like some of the other fonts used that are straight up and bold, yet funky. If you can find one like this then your design is one of the best so far.

i tried to depict/incorporate the famous t of twitter. btw... dont worry will add a can too but right now my bed is waiting for me..... its 11:30 pm here.

Dimitri123, that's really nice, probably my favourite so far. I'm struggling to come up with feedback for it. Really love the little icon, but think it'd look even better with a nice font. Try finding one that stands up straight, but is still friendly like the one you put. Could you also try it with a couple of colour variations, just to see what looks best? (PS. leave the tagline, it looks nice ;))

JM, sorry, not really the look I'm going for. Not into the fonts at all, and the splats would look out of place on my site. I still like the bird though, so if you could incorporate that into the design via a circle or something like that then it might look better. :)

Vebtools, yes, there are a few birds floating about (:rolleyes:;)) in this contest, but they're slightly more subtle than yours. The second one wasn't too much like the twitter logo, I just don't think it would have matched with my site. You're obviously very creative, so I'm looking forward to your next entry. My one bit of advice would be to try and steer away from birds, think more generic.

Deception, sorry, no where near what I want. Needs a transparent background for a start, also I prefer the cartoon style ones.

Renderwork, really nice design work, but I'm not really into it. Took me a while to figure out which direction it was pointing in, and even then I'm not keen on the bow or eyelashes, too feminine. If you can make it a bit less fat and a bit more neutral, that'd be great. Also, I'd prefer a sharper font.

Tightwad, a lot better, thanks. The little bubble shaped thing behind the bird, could you make that a bit darker so it blends in a bit more please? I know what you're trying to do, and it looks good, just a bit too bright. Alternatively (probably a better idea), could you make the bird a bit darker and leave the rest of the design the same?

I try to do good feedback because I know how frustrating it is for designers when they spend ages on a design and then the CH doesn't even show the courtesy to take a few minutes to reply, and it seems to keep the designers happy when I leave good feedback, hence 4 pages of brilliant entries!

BTW, I hope you get better and I hope you have time to enter. I'm leaving this contest open for 72 hours after the thread was started, as this was my promise and it'd be unfair to change that for 1 person after everyone has spent so much time getting an early entry in. :)

TightWad, another great entry. Now I look at it more, I realise the bird looks pretty feminine. Could you try and make this more neutral please? Other than that it's awesome.

Renderwork, awesome stuff. I love the entry, but I can't help feeling that the circle with the bird in looks a bit empty. Could you try adding some small variations to that part of it? Also, I think you made the bottom half too light now :o Could you try it in the middle of the other entry and your latest?

Dimitri, very nice work. I do like the orange one the most, so if we could stick with that one for future revisions it'd be great :) Could you do something with the eye? I feel just a white spot isn't really enough... try adding a pupil or whatever it's called :o... the blue bit basically.

Okay, feedback :cool:

Dimitri, the bird looks a bit mad with an orange eye to be honest. Could you try with a blue eye, but a different shade to the actual bird. I think it'd look really nice then.

Sikka, sorry, not really the look I'm going for. I think the bird needs to be frendlier (if you even include a bird - only Futtbucker has made a good entry without a bird so far, so would like to see more generic designs), and the text is far too serious. The font needs to be more funky as the site is aimed towards fun people :)

Watari, out of all of those my favourite is the one in the bottom left hand corner, so in future entries could you only focus on that one please? Feedback wise, it's really nice, but the wing and tail need to be the same colour as the rest of the bird.

C4Y... when I said colour variations I just meant different shades of blue :o Either way, the blue one still looks reaalllyyy nice. Could you try it in different shades of blue please?

Watari... I quite like the entry, but I think the rainbow pallet behind the bird is too dominant. If you could make the colours blend into the design abit more so that the bird is the main focus that would be great. I mean, keep the colours, but just make them more subtle.

Vebtools... I prefer the first to the second, so in future revisions please focus on the first only. Could you make the orange background of the circle a bit more subtle, less 'in your face'. Also, not really liking the font for it...

JM, sorry, not really into that one either. The bird is quite cartoony and then the text and speech bubble are straighter (if you get what I mean). The design just lacks consistently. I do however quite like your thinking about the design of the bird, so if you make the rest of the design match it, it might be a contender :)

Vebtools... Your entries are all very artistic, but unfortunately I don't think they would suit my site. Like I've said a few times, I would love to see some generic designs without birds from you as you're clearly a talented artist. :)

Crowquill.. really like those entries, the bird is really good and it's definately one of my favourites. As far as the design goes I'm not sure how much better you can make it, so if you want to make more concepts that'd be great.

JM Designs, it's pretty nice, but don't think it would suit my site. Thanks for the entry though :)

Renderwork, very nice, I think it looks really good with that background I think. I wasn't too keen on the bow, but I've just looked at it again and I really like it, works well. Improvement wise, could you try putting some spikey hair on it's chin?

Jamess, really like this one, brilliant entry, one of my favourites. Could you try making the eyes a bit less cute? So the pupils were a bit smaller. Also, could you put the slogan a bit smaller and to the right?

Surya, yeah, there are some incredible entries on here, so pleased to have 6 pages of quality designs to choose from!

Thanks for the words Dimitri. I've just seen (and entered) so many contests where people haven't got any feedback. The thing is, designers put a lot of time and effort into their work, so if the CH can't take a few minutes to reply to their hard work, it's not only unfair, but very rude in my eyes. Anyway, I'm glad there are so many good entries :)

As a reminder, there's only 8 hours left until this closes, so if you haven't entered yet... do so now! I'm not waiting for anyone because it isn't fair on other designers!

Renderwork, sort of, but not quite what I mean. Basically like what you've done on the top of the head, but on the chin as well (obviously not the exact same shape as it'd look daft, but so there is some blue showing) :)

It's one of the first designing contests I've done on DP and it was really good to see some really nice skill and it was great working with you all. OK, I've had a VERY hard time choosing the winners. Once again I would like to thank all entrants for your time and efforts, and I hope in future contests you'll all try again :) Spent about 10 minutes staring at a screen full of designs and I still struggled to decide. OK, without further ado...
