You can also use Dofollow Blog Search (http://directoryblogger.com/dofollow-blog-search/) in the blog to find other dofollow blogs. I am adding improving the dofollow blog search almost everyday.

hopw amny spam comments do you get per day?
i have a dofollow blog (http://www.seocialise.com) too and i receive around 5 spam comments a day.

I think the spam is not due to it being dofollow / nofollow. I do receive comments with a lot of grammatical and spelling mistakes :D

Akismet does a good job but sometimes also puts genuine comments in spam.

DoFollow is nice for your readers but it does encourage spam unfortunately. Pretty sure that Google will find a way to completely devalue wordpress comments links at some stage (if it's not already happening).

Blogs should be NoFollow in my opinion. Otherwise all you get is some SEO spam.
People should comment because they want to, not just because of the DoFollow backlink.

I recently switched to dofollow on my 2 blogs. I also set a minimum comment length at 100 characters. I noticed an increase in the number of comments and spam, but Akismet caught all the spam. I really like having the extra comments and traffic. I sometimes will edit the comments to fix spelling and grammatical errors.
