When I was working with Dreamhost, this didn't happen. I moved to hostgator because the Dreamhost team were utterly impossible to reason with

The suspended my account without even giving me a proper reason and I lost everything! I'm in a real mess here and I moved some of my bigger sites to Hostgator and I'm getting this message

Site Temporarily Unavailable

We apologize for the inconvenience. Please contact the webmaster/ tech support immediately to have them rectify this.
error id: "bad_httpd_conf"

I contacted the support sections and they insisted that the problem was at my side. I tried doing the whole setup process through a proxy, it worked! It doesn't work otherwise. I live in India, how long do you think this will take?

First of all delete your browser cache.
Then you have to wait until 48 hours from the DNS change for the propagation.
May be your site is already online usign other providers. You can use a web proxy to check (for example one of this list: jp4.info)

Propogation usually occurs within 72 hours for it to show all over the internet. You may want to try a DNS Flush also. You can do this by going to Command Prompt and putting in the following command.

ipconfig/ flushdns

If you are using Vista, right click the command prompt and select "Run as Administrator"

All the best,
