In Australia, only non-profit or charitable organisations can register a .org.au domain.
I was wondering if anyone knows if there is eligability criteria for registering domains that are .org or .asn or is it open to any individual or entity?

regular .org domains are open to anyone, they're no more restricted than .net or .com
I have no clue with .asn, or .org.au.

Well thats a shame.
I hope there is a .org.us only available to us charities and non-profits?

if you're an "actual" non profit organization, I'd definitely make a point of mentioning it on the site instead of just hoping people will assume so based on your .org domain.
I don't believe I've ever seen a .org.us domain.
