When I get a link on DP they seem not to show up a backlinks when I check. Am I being scammed? Is there something I should be checking when I am looking for a link? I already look for nofollows and high pr's but they are not showing up even after a month.

Do some people sell links that really don't work for some reason?

How do you check it, using google's link: operator? Better use yahoo's linkdomain: for checkling backlinks

You should use yahoo site explorer (https://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/) for checking backlinks because google will only
show a small portion of your links.

chek with any third party tool for back links. Better use the following "backlinkwatch.com"

You could use backlinkwatch because it tells you if a link is a dofollow or not.

your probaly not being scammed. You should use Yahoo backlink checker, but your probably not being scammed. If the site is indexed in the search engine then it will pick the links up.

I never used yahoo site explorer for link checking before. Great tool for checking all dofollow and nofollow and its fast too.

You need to check whether the link is dofollow or nofollow. If it is dofollow, then it might have appeared in google. If it is nofollow, there is no chance for it to appear in google.
