How are word phrases treated? Its not making sense.

My main keyword is 2 words "A B". Its lost somewhere in serps, yet its #3 on allinanchor/text. Its not a competitive keyword..
But if i search for the word "B"..its #2 on serps.
Now, if i do a 3 word phrase "A B C" with C being any word, itll again show up at the top as well.

Why isnt "A B" showing up anywhere?

Well the reason may simply be that Google is doing a lot of things that defy explanation these days.

However I'd like to know more detail. Do you use these words in your title? How frequently do you use them on your web page etc etc etc?

Can you tell us what the phrase is and the URL of the page or site you are talking about?

Yeah maybe sandboxing. The site is relatively new, about 2 months and 13,000 results
The kw is in the title, and about 7% density
this is the site in question: http://champloo.rushtoy.com

Interesting...
Not sure why the site does not show for Samurai Champloo, but part of the reason for the #2 rank for champloo may be that that word is twice in the page title, and also part of the URL.
