Hostgator users?

Hi guys,

I'm hosting my main site with hostgator, but want to buy domains somewhere else. Is it possible to buy them somewhere and transfer them to my server and is this free? Or certain domain sites allow it for free? All help appreciated :)

You can buy domains from reputed domain registrars like Namecheap, Godaddy, Dynadot, etc. and attach that domain name with your host (i.e. Hostgator) by entering nameserver information.

Yes, this is possible and free also. You just need to enter nameserver info in your domain control panel just like what nihangshah have said.

Yes in fact I recommend buying your domains through a domain register instead of through your host for more control over and better price.

i have alot from godaddy and namecheap and i host them on hostgators bussiness plan.

I too agree..buying domain from a domain registrar is always better because of a better pricing and a better domain management console..
