Obviously .coms are the most desired and probably always will be, but what about other TLDs, particularly newer ones - e.g. .name? Is it worth investing in domains with the newer TLDs, or should I stick to trying to find decent .com names to snap up?
My own uninformed opinion is that .coms will reach a saturation point and newer TLD domains will rise in value in the long term... would anyone agree with that, or will people endlessly rehash .com names like people do with hotmail addresses (dave4256223@hotmail.com)?

imo...
i guess it depends on the domain NAME.
the right NAME can make an OK extension pretty GOOD.
EXAMPLE: s*x.biz s*x.info - not bad at all. :)
i prefer .com for almost everything i have, but i've also had a few
.infos that worked well and got very decent monthly TYPE-INS.
stick with .com, hard to go wrong.

I think .coms are going to be the most valuable of all TLDs in 10 years from now.

I prefer .com's as they are the most stable and expected value isn't a question....
.net's should be good aswell....
.info's have really surprized me with how fast they have become popular....

The reason they have become so popular, is that there was a promotional offer a while back where they where free.. so people registered them en mass.
Right now .com and .net's are best.. but depending on the site .org, .info, or some other extension may work.. but .com always is the first thing people try (i.e yourbusiness.com, I dont know anybody that when looking for a site trys yourbusiness.info first :P )
