Plural is better IMHO :)

For domain names, using a singular is more beneficial, simply because people often avoid typing an extra letter.....This is true for unique names....
For searches, people looking for design and image would obviously use plurals for larger number of results...imo

I think plural is better. It has both singular and plural in itself.

it depends to your project but I think generally plural is better choice.

How can it relate to a project? Example I want to make my wptheme portfolio or a designer portfolio,
webdesign.com
or webdesigns.com
wptheme.com
or
wpthemes.com
which one is better in Yahoo or Google search. Which one would you search online? Thanks

It depends on the word, the project and if it makes sense, no real rule of thumb. People even opt for a z appendage.

It all depends on the what you are using it with. MyDesign.com means something different than MyDesigns.com
It's all about context, what other words are you using these with.

I think I'd register both. If I had to choose one it would depend on the amount of searches vs competing sites and which KEI (Wordtracker) is better if it's a significant difference. But generally speaking I think that the plural would get more searches because as mentioned you'd get both versions.

How about if I just need to reg one domain and need to pick between theme or themes?
FileDropperAccounts.com

It depends.
If I was a Web Designer, I'd take Design.com. If I sold T-Shirt Designs, I'd take Designs.com.
If I owned a business that managed people's image (reputation), I'd go with Image.com. If I sold or hosted images, I'd go with Images.com.
In general, though, singular is more valuable than plural simply because it is shorter.

Go for theme coz its more easy to remember and its short.
And well other than that, you must use a well know domain extension too such as .com

Yes, I think that the blanket answer that one is better than the other should be ignored. If you are planning to market to North America, it is wise to ask some Americans on DP this sort of question. You might want to be very specific about what kind of website you are planning to make so as to get the answer you really need. Words like these actually mean very different things.
Image makes me think of someone's reputation
images makes me think of pictures, jpegs
design makes me think of style, interior home decorations, bigger things or ideas.
designs makes me think of gifs or smaller decorations or ideas.

Actually i like the singular because its shorter. But i guess sometimes plural is better. Just search them on Google, and compare the results.

It really depends on the name but with the above 2 examples:
Design.com & Images.com are better IMO
