What do you think is a better way to go??

The .com name I want is taken and the owner won't sell. Should I go with..

www. domain.net (which is available)

or

www. thedomain.com

I'm planning on branding the site so the domain name recognition is important. Any thoughts. I wish the owner would just sell me the damn .com....he's not even using it for anything. People who hold domain names hostage piss me off.

IMHO if your going to brand it properly then think up something totally new... people love .coms and if this guy wont sell it before you bust your ass branding it - then you can be sure he'll cash in on it when you do.

Go with a new registration, don't develop the dot net if you are really investing alot of money.

Lol it's called domaining and he had the foresight to register the domain, which entitles him to do whatever he wants with it. :)

Thanks...I think I found a creative variation on the .com I originally wanted. Hopefully I can make it work.
