$20 Avatar (kind of) simple contest, payment via paypal

Hi talented people,

This is a simple one. I need to have some kind of avatar for ebay that needs upgrading badly. This is the current avatar (which needs changing):

Requirements: must be square I have found when displayed on ebay a square shape looks more noticeable.

Must contain the picture of this bag below

Must also contain somewhere the words: pr*oteindirect (remove the star)

The picture does not need to have a red frame like in the original avatar. You can also change the colour of the background. You can write pr*oteindirect at the bottom if so you wish or on the side.

The milk logo must be part of the avatar and it's ok if it covers part of the bag. Although the milk logo must be part of the avatar it can appear small and not fully readable.

Winner gets paid via paypal. I will let this run for 2-3 days but if I see something I really like I will close this sooner.

I realise the prize is not that big but please note proteindude always picks a winner and I always provide feedback.

jokers, thanks for getting things started. It is a touch plain. The colours you used for pr*otein and direct are not me. I like something a touch brighter. The one thing I think it looks good is how you wrote pr*otein in a bigger font than direct.

Lady, definitely looking good and thanks for entering this. Stylish and elegant. My only suggestion would be to use red instead of gold and I tell you why: when you see many avatars when you do a search on ebay gold doesn't seem to stand out. It looks stylish but doesn't stand out. Also with avatars I personally like to use as much space as possible. That is why I would make pr*oteindirect bigger and I would perhaps move the milk logo at the bottom. Don't get me wrong, I am not asking for changes, I am just giving you my feedback. However if you want to do changes you are more than welcome to do so. I usually just pick a couple of finalists and that is when I ask for changes.

watari: good to see you too mate. Thanks for the entry. I'll get straight to the point because I know you can take it :cool: I don't like the font you used for pr*oteindirect. It looks too average. Also, I like brighter colours and the red you used doesn't look bright enough especially where it fades into some shades of pink. Other than that it looks good.

Tranzemaniac: thanks for the submission. Looks good but still a few flaws: although I like the extra two bags, I get the feeling they may look like something's wrong with the picture especially when it's going to be the size of the avatar. I like that thin black line all around the avatar but I think it would look better in red. However, what I'm not a big fan of is that gold you used for direct. Looks on my screen like army green. I also think the milk logo would have looked better if it was tilted on the left corner not on the right one as it is at the moment. I'm not asking for changes but I like to give contestants my thoughts which can be wrong sometimes :o But at least you know how I feel. Just now I noticed the ones with a golden background but they are definitely not me.

LucyChase: thanks for the entries. I appreciate the bodybuilder, good idea but it needs to be removed. That is because many of the clients are women and I'm trying to promote more of an inclusive image rather than a bodybuildery one. As far as pr'oteindirect fonts and colours I like the silver one especially on the yellow background. I'm not sure but the bag looks a touch squashed. The one I like the most is the yellowish one even though I think I'd prefer a red background (your red background one is not bright enough for me). Overall I think your entries look a little (just a little) older style and I would prefer something more modern.

webtechnocrat: thanks but it's not something I'm after. pr*oteindirect font you used doesn't look modern enough for me. Also the blurry part is not something that I really like. The stripes on the side also make the photo look a touch blurry and if anything I would rather have the photo of the bag and the milk logo stand out.

evolva: good to see you again. The bag and the milk logo look sharp which is good. The gray background is not doing it for me. Also I hope you don't mind me saying it but it looks a little unbalanced somehow. I think pr`oteindirect should be going from one side to the other rather than be somewhere in the middle.

Guys, thanks for the entries and I will be back in a few hours because right now I need to do something millions of Australians do every day and that is to get some rest :)

Tranzemaniac: #14 Looks better with the milk logo on the left, only because it's on an angle. The bags look good also but still the font doesn't do it for me. I'm not a big fan of black. I think I would have liked a red/white combo better than having the black in there.

watari: Hmmm.... you are frustrating me a little :) You come up with some magnificent logos and yet this avatar doesn't seem to look as good as your magnificent logos. It just doen's look modern enough somehow. I don't like the font and I think the "frame" would need to be thinner, more stylised to look modern. Everything else looks good but needs to look a bit more modern and stylish.

evolva: sorry but not going in the right direction. I appreciate the creativity but the background is too dark and the motifs you used take away from the bag and from the pr*oteindirect

zyndel: thanks for entering this. You must be thinking of Christmas lol It looks very Christmassy somehow with red and white and green. I don't like the font you used but the bag comes through clearly and so does the milk logo. But overall it's a touch too colourful and a touch plain for my taste.

reject: nice but not enough top beat some of the other ones. The background definitely stands out but I think you have the wrong choice font for pr*oteindirect. It could look better with some slight improvements as it is a pleasant entry but not an outstanding entry.

Mr willhaynes himself !! :) Thanks for taking part in this. Nice entry, nice concept but the execution of this concept lacks a little. I like the way you displayed the bags but the milk logo should be on top of the corner of the bag not behind it. protien (the way you wrote it) is French for protein but I prefer protein. I don't like the font. I keep saying this a lot but the fonts that I liked in this contest are the ones where pr*oteindirect was written in lower case. It's maybe me but the background looks a little towards gray and I think would look better if left plain white though the gray seems to be growing on me. I'm not sure about the thickness of the red "frame"I think the "frame" needs to somehow be stylised a little more to look more modern. Overall a very pleasant entry and one of my favorite so far.

quicksilver: thanks for the entry: very stylish and very pleasant entry. Something just doesn't feel right though. The bags look good, the milk logo looks good and so does the background. But still something's not all there and it bugs me cause I can't figure out exactly what it is. I think (and I may be wrong) it's the blurry effect around the word protein perhaps which makes it more blurry because of the fainted rays on the background. But I could be wrong :o

Lady: thanks but I actually liked the first one better. It seems to me like you just tried a little too hard. For example all I would have liked for the first one was to change pr*oteindirect to red and the same with the top and bottom effects. I like the pr*oteindirect font you used. So if you wanted to try it again just use a simple red (coca cola red) and just change the font and the red top and left and that would be it. I think sometimes simple is the way to go.

quiksilver: thanks. It looks better. Just a personal thing but I don't like the gradient for the word protein

willhaynes: much, much better and I think it's definitely my favorite right now. Much more stylish with the new frame though I still think I like the first one as far as the bags go, the only difference being that the milk logo should be on top. I don't mind at all if the milk logo was actually covering that corner of the bag. Great work. Oh yes, and thanks for the advice regarding size. You've just saved me a lot of time ;)

I will let this run for a few more hours and then I will be choosing the finalists, I will request a couple of small changes and afterwards we'll wrap this up. In anyone else is considering this, now would be the time to enter.

Tranzemaniac: thanks for the new ones. You keep on improving. the black one would look better in red because my main colours are red and white and perhaps that is something I should have specified at the beginning of this contest. I think I like the second one better but only because it has red in it. But the top one looks good also.

ecovers: first of all thanks for entering this contest. It's a tough one. I see you've broken tradition and you added the original logo which is a plus. Perhaps you could keep the original logo at the top and just simply write pr*oteindirect in normal font somewhere at the bottom (or vice versa). I like your idea, I like what you're trying to do but I don't think you nailed it just yet. Those red effects/shapes in the corner don't fully grab me. I'm trying to guess what you could do to improve but I can't cause I'm not that good of a designer.

Tranz: I appreciate it. I feel it's my duty as a CH to give you feedback regardless of whether I think you have a winning entry or not. You mispelled protein. It looks much better in red and that corner part can also be used to display the price which is a good idea. The one place where I think you made a mistake is by placing the bags too much to the right and so the image looks a little inbalanced. I appreciate your positive attitude and if you're among the finalists I will then ask for some changes.

Rover: thanks for the entry. I love the font you used for pr*oteindirect. I like your design and I can't fault it except that I happen to like other designs better this time.

The FINALISTS: here's what I mean by the finalists. I like to choose 2 or 3 designs ask for a couple of small changes and then I choose the winner. Obviously none of the finalists have to do the changes. It's up to you.

In order I like right now:
willhaynes: I like the frame you used in #28 but the only thing I ask if you could perhaps use the same frame as in #28 but use the position of the bags in #20 the only difference being to place that milk logo over the corner of that bag not behind it. I really like the font you used in #28 also

watari: #42 make the bag a little bigger perhaps by moving it down a bit. Change the font to a bolder/rounder one and try and perhaps you lower case. Also I like the top red shape as it looks round but I don't like the bottom red shape as it looks a little squarish and I prefer also something rounder.

tranz: yours is my third favorite and I like that idea of using the bags in gray as a background but somehow I don't think gray is the best choice. I think it may look better with a faint white instead of the gray you used. It's up to you if you want to give this one last shot by just changing the gray bags to something white.
