.name worth? good/dead investment?

when I search for .com .net .org .info extension for a specific keyword in my mind I sometimes find .name extension avaible.. But I haven't registered in .name's so far and haven't seen someone who sold a .name dmain for a good price.. what do you think about .name extension? May be It could be only profitable when you find a .name domain which is in name.name format

Here is my opinion, but it isn't based on facts, so...

Well, I think that people often look for .com, .org or .net domains, just because it is more common. If they are looking for some information, but have no idea where it is, this domains are the first option. Imagine I'm looking for cars. I will try cars.com, cars.net or cars.org. If I can't find what I want I will search Google.

But (there is always a "but"), if you register whatever.name and your site have good content, with time it will became a reference in your topic. If you have the greatest content about cars in the internet, your site (cars.name) will be famous.

So, in the end what matter is the content. Common names could be good in the beggining, but it will not send you to the top just because of the domain... :D

IMHO, if you're planning on selling it it won't come close to a .com, or even .info.

I don't know why but for most of the people .name is not something good :)
may be It's too long 4 Characters? Or may be "name" doen't seem to be attractive.. I have no idea, but hopefully I am planning to buy few .name domains, because there are really good ones which were not grabbed by others. It'd be good idea to have a content but for trading the domain but who would try .name, there are alot of domain extensions..

The .name extension was supposed to be used by private people , where domain is the name or a real person or a character.
There is a danger, that someone will complain, that BuyConsolidateLoans.name is not a valid name.
I would change my real surname to John ForexInvestingTips to avoid loosing the domain, but seriously you should think it over, so far I didn't hear about anyone that lost a domain that way.
I hope that if there were no issues with improper use of .org or .biz extensions, no one would challenge the domains with .name TLD.
I have some .name domains (signature) and see no any real difference with SERPs.

.name is okay for development but there is not much demand for them on the aftermarket so don't plan on a quick flip.

I am a Huge fan of .name.

i just picked up Australia.name to turn into a local free domain and blog platform. "blogger like" bob.aust*****.name etc
i would never have the money or luck to find it in any other relevant CCtld.

The only problem with them is it is a restricted domain. thats why im going for sub.domains on it. it needs to be a persons name, preferably your own,

Sedo doesn't bother listing them anymore. I see them listed for sale at registers but nobody wants to buy them. Many also get dropped so I don't think there's going to be any demand for them now or any time soon. I personally dropped a couple and never want to invest in them again.

I purchased GBA.name:eek: MovieTheater.name:eek: and MovieTheaters.name:eek:
didn't develop them though. I let them go due to high keyword competition.
Think there's a few LLL.name's still unregistered, good luck selling them!

Like anything else, if you have a premium .name domain, it's worth it. Otherwise it's total garbage.

I just sold "flipped" australia.name 16 times ROI. in a week,, Regardless of market value. if a buyer wants it, or needs it,, you will sell it.

No one can own my.name, all .name must be 3 characters or more.

They dont have the same value as a dot com and they dont have the market value or up-take like a brand new dot.me.. However i have sold plenty mostly 3 letters for 5-6 times cost in a matter of weeks. Its only 500%+ markup. However, sales are sales. And the chances of owning a single dictionary word or 3 letter domain are out of most (me included*) people's reach.

I found a great lll.name domain probably I'll get it, and already bought few expired .name domains. There are alot of opportunities on the market for all the domains if and only if you find the correct buyer ;)
