Ive always thought Yahoo traffic converted better in general, but always even with tried and tested methods, Google seems to love my work more.
1 site i did as a test to try and gain yahoo traffic ended up with 90% google & 10% yahoo.
Any tips on making my sites do better in yahoo ? i mean its not a huge market but still all the numbers add up, and i wouldn't be a webmaster if i wasn't trying my best.
Thanks

Sure. Some sites naturally rank better there, or Google slaps them back in the SERPs so that is all you are left with. Wish I knew why.

It is very common websites get more traffic from google and not from yahoo.
yahoo is only 15-20 percent of the total searches.

I typically rank better on Yahoo than Google with new sites, and as they age Google begins to take over again.

I get about 95% of searches from Google. The other 5% from yahoo or live. I think it's due to the amount of people who use Google and no other search engine.

Oddly enough, yes I do in fact with only one of my sites. Even though it only has one page, and its a blog, its ranked number one for its keyword. :)

You need to do different optimisations for yahoo and google. Most of the SEO companies work on google as it is most widely used search engine. One of my clients ranked 1 on yahoo but had half the traffic when he ranked 3rd on google

I think it`s all about your SEO strategies you implement.... I personally receive more traffic from Google. Yahoo doesn`t seem to send as much traffic not even from the top listings.

Obviously, I do get more organic traffic from google compare to yahoo, but since last couple of days I have seen a huge jump in traffic from yahoo. Not sure why?

Well although my rankings are much better at Yahoo than google, Google sends me much more traffic compared to yahoo. Although yahoo answers do supply a good number of traffic for me.

My old site gets 100% more traffic from Yahoo than Google - because it's banned from Google ....
It is very common websites get more traffic from google and not from yahoo.
yahoo is only 15-20 percent of the total searches.
Depends on what country you live in .... Yahoo smashes Google in Asia ....

I'm guessing most of you rank well in Google for some terms but those terms do not rank well in Yahoo?
Investigate. Find out which are your highest rankings keywords/keyphrases in Google then compare rankings in Yahoo.
Any different? Noticeably?
If you want to get more traffic from Yahoo1 then I suggest you submit to Yahoo! Directory

Being accepted into yahoo directory alone will not guarantee traffic from yahoo. The seo for yahoo is quite different from that of google; generally websites get more traffic from google than yahoo because the volume of search is great in the former.

Most sites will get more traffic from Google as Google has the greatest market share of search engine usage.
There will be exceptions, but like it or not, Google is king

I've always ranked very well on Google, but a site i owned recently, for reasons completely unbeknownst to me, was ranking WAY higher on Yahoo while being something like the 5th page on Google. It wasn't because i got slapped by Google, because the site ranked naturally better from the day it was made. I can't even explain why it did so much better on Yahoo.

My site receives a lot more traffic from yahoo. Maybe its because its new and google still didnt update their search results, while yahoo updates fast.

Google always does better unless the site does very poorly in google, then its only doing ok in yahoo cause it's relative.
I think yahoo likes older sites cause ive never had a relatively new site do well like ive had relatively new sites do well in Google.

Yahoo seems to reward age more than Google. So newer sites can have trouble ranking. After a year or more, the Yahoo traffic will start rolling in.
Now there are always exceptions. My brother had his site indexed and on page #1 of Yahoo for a popular search term in about a month.
I don't know how he did it and neither does he.
The best thing to do is what most webmasters do. Optimize for Google and treat the Yahoo traffic as a bonus.

One of my newer site's currently gets more traffic than google but that's simply because it's so new and hasn't built up a strong enough reputation to compete with site's using the same keyword in Google. Yahoo and MSN are easier to "spam" your way to the top in..Although that's not what I do at all.

I get way more visits from Google.

My Google, Yahoo traffic ratio is around 100:2. If my sites get 102 unique visits a day 100 of them ae from Google and 2 of them are from Yahoo. To be frank, I don't care about optimizing my sites to Yahoo, that's way I faill miserably when it comes to getting traffic from Yahoo.

Mine are equally divided. I get about 1600 unique visitors a day. Yahoo just edges out Google slightly.

Is yahoo really easier to rank?
It could just be that googles algo doesn't match your seo but yahoo does. That doesn't make it easier, just makes it different.
