They are great in getting huge traffic and for quick inclusion in search engines.

Short term traffic will cost you money, PPC, Ezine Ad etc.. Long Term traffic is free, Article marketing, Blogging, Posting, SEO.

I suppose you don't just need visitors. What you need is targeted traffic. The only targeted traffic which converts well come from SE or PPC. For organic traffic (Search Engines) you should focus on SEO for Google. For PPC traffic anything will do: AdWords, Yahoo, AdCenter, etc. By the way SEO doesn't sucks :) It takes time but it will bring you a lot of targeted visitors for free.

yes you need targeted traffic junk traffic is just junk does you no good.

You can try other different answer communities like yedda[dot]com,
answers[dot]com, and many more.. I've been using yahoo answer and
it was really good same to social networking site like SU and facebook.
