This is just a little secret that might be useful to some of you trying to get organic placements in Yahoo, which can be a bear of a search engine to crack.

Lately I've been finding that goarticles and articlealley articles place well in Yahoo. Yahoo seems to be into them lately.

So I recommend creating articles at those two directories and you might get nice rankings for your keywords. I've been doing this with a couple of sites and have been pleased at the results. Usually Yahoo ignores my sites which is really annoying.

Yahoo is a CRAPPY search engine with absolutely no understandable mechanics. Some people however, do farily well, how and why, that's beyond my understanding. Don't get me wrong, I am not jealous with anybody or something but it's Yahoo's stupid guidelines that piss me off big time. I have done a lot to get my site appear in Yahoo but I have never had any extra ordinary success.

I've had good results with goarticles in Google as well.

It's worth a shot. Cheers.

Goarticles and ezinearticles are the first two directories I submit my new articles to and then to the rest on my list a few days later, close to 400 others.. words well.

google is best yahoo is not so good!

Traffic is traffic and it doesn't matter much if it comes from yahoo or google.

Exactly, you should never try to limit yourself. You're just cutting part of the market.

Yes... absolutely. I guess most of us are already aware of bum marketing.... just need to add goarticles to the arsenal... I do not see why you cannot write one more article for goarticles and hopefully you will also get Yahoo love.. :)

I find that traffic converts twice as much in Yahoo than Google, so for the same amount of traffic, Yahoo gets my vote as the better SE

I think women use Yahoo more than men who'd prefer Google!

You can't be serious about it! Are there any statistics to prove it?

JosefSawyer
Nov 16th 2008, 12:34 pm
I find that yahoo relies more on your onpage optimsation than the number of links that you have. Whereas google is more interested in quality links.

Yahoo has never transitioned from its original status as a "web directory" to a "internet search engine" the way that it should have. I have been able to get listed there but usually only by accident. Thanks for the tips, though.

Hey, I have a quick question about GoArticles from those who have used it successfully (and a few ideas & tips, too).

When people request and republish the articles, they don't seem to keep the links intact if they're written out with anchor text using "a href."

How do you get around this? Do you use backlinks that are like http://domain.com or do you try to prove your entry on GoArticles.com as the "original" by building some backlinks to it and/or getting your author feed included in various dofollow RSS directories?

I've been using a mix of these tactics and it seems to be helping, but there are still a few articles out there that got republished without the links that are ranking as the original. Still like Ezine the best but I'm always looking for more directories. (I was enjoying Articlepool for a while but they seem to have some serious indexing problems lately)

article submissions work great for me. I am listed number 1 in yahoo and google for my first 3 word search phrase. Doesn't have a ton of traffic, but i'm working on several others. I am top 10 on google for 7 keyword combinations (all 3 word keywords). and top 10 for about 10 keywords on yahoo. Thats just to my site. I have many articles that rank top 10 on both engines. I'm hoping this starts turning into traffic. My site has only been up about a month. I'm only averaging about 25-30 unique visitors per day for the past 2-3 weeks. I would like to get to about 800 a day at least.

Indeed, thanks for the idea. I've noticed a few other article sites also improve rankings...

in this order, i usually submit
ezinearticles
goarticles
articlesbase
amazines
articlealley
expertarticles
articleincome

Although, I've got no evidence yet that articlealley actually posts articles. =0 The rest seem to have a 24-48 hr turnaround though.

I recently had a sited penalized by Google for duplicate content. Traffic from Yahoo kept me going. Yahoo ran a story on it's front page on a topic where I had a first page search result in Yahoo. Traffic went up nearly 40% for one day.

Where as Google is important and I want my Google traffic back in the worst way, never neglect Yahoo as a source of traffic.
