Yahoo is a directory - not a search engine - so you basically have to pay.
If you use Yahoo Marketing to advertise - this helps.

I would recommend submitting to directories and writing a few articles and distributing them. I actually just wrote an ebook on optimizing for Yahoo.

Yahoo and MSN always very bad search engines for me. My sites are also not showing in results in Yahoo and MSN. Google is the best search engine for me.

Participate in Yahoo answers, try to get listed in DMOZ (if not already)
Yahoo is both a search engine and a directory. The directory is pretty expensive to get listed into but many say it can help to get ranked in Yahoo. But for the price of it and the traffic compared to Google... I generally pass.
It has been widely stated that Yahoo ignores the nofollow tag so that will open up more opportunities for you to build a backlink campaign.
EDIT
On top of that participate in groups like Google groups and others, get yourself a hubpage and a squidoo lens. Comment on other Squidoo lens and hubpage.

Yahoo is one of the biggest traffic to some of my client sites after he was banned for some blackhat activity by Google and yes the traffic is comparable.

yahoo hardly send any traffic
I am pretty sure about it, because for a keyword in which i rank second in google serps sending me 300+ uniques per day yahoo sends me one or two uniques for the same position , not worth i suppose
my 2 cents...

Does it help to have your keywords in your domain name for yahoo, i think this with lots of backlinks will help you alot. Backlinks in general will get you moving in the serps.

did u register site in site explorer? and install yahoo verification code in your server or index page? same as google verification.
if you have done both of this and still no ranking on yahoo, you need to work more on directory submission, coz in past i had done same for my site and i got ranking on yahoo.

- I have the same problem like.. My blog is ranking well in google. But not in yahoo... Not more than 10 visitors per day from yahoo, whereas i get over 500 unique visits from google. Its strange to compare when yahoo ranks first in Alexa...

The SEO of a site is different for google and yahoo. Cross linking all your inner pages will help you achieve some position in yahoo but the I have very little traffic flowing from yahoo...

modify seo on-page factors : title, header, meta tag, body text and sub-domain because yahoo emphasize on-page factors more than 50%
