Team iDemise is a professional gaming guide company that creates strategy guides particularly for MMORPG genre video games such as World of Warcraft, Warhammer Online, Age of Conan, etc.

The designers entering in this contest should have some knowledge of what sales pages should look like and know what's important to convince our customers to BUY. (It's not an art contest)

While we are in the gaming niche, we are a serious business, and need a professional looking website. Our customers want to feel confident they are buying from mature, adult, professional writers/gamers and not some teenage kid. And the site design needs to give them this confidence.

We want something that lets people know right away that this is a gaming site but isn't overly "cartoony" or "cheap" looking.

We are fans of subtle details that give the site just enough style.

We also think simple is sometimes better. We want the visitor to know that this is a MMORPG website, but don't want crazy MMORPG graphics all over. Rather, add the MMORPG touch in the bullets and icons on the page. A good design is one that brings out the content, not hides it.

Specs:

100% width header with a somewhat thin height.

Horizontal Menu below header.

Aligned Left ("Home, Guides, Blog" links)

Aligned Right ("Select Game" Dropdown box)

2 column body optimized for 1024 resolution

Left column = Sales Pitch Content (writing)

Right column = Testimonials, Newsletter sign up area

Footer Area (Links)

Home, Guides, Blog, Contact Us, Affiliates, Game Guides categorized by Game Titles

Things that need to be designed:

Header, Logo, Headline (h1), Paragraph Headlines (h2), content, testimonial, bullet point list, product display area, Buy Now or Purchase Now button, Newsletter Subscription box, 100% satisfaction guarantee area with emblem.

Just to give you an idea of what my sales content will look like visit www.teamidemise.com . I'm showing you this just so you know what a typical sales page looks like and how the headline and paragraphs are formatted. I'm NOT showing you this because I like the design or anything about it. Please don't misunderstand this.

Don't Want

*Overly cartoony designs
*Too much graphic work
*Too many colors (give it a 2 min – 4 max color color-scheme
*Art

Contest Details (Read Carefully):

* Contest starts today, November 3rd and ends on November 10th
* We reserve the right to close the contest early, or to close/prolong the contest if we don't get any entries we like
* We will offer BONUSES to exceptional entries

The contest prize is $550 for the full website, but if we just love a particular logo we might just buy someone's logo and another contestant's header for example.

LOGO: $100
HEADER: $125
WEBSITE DESIGN: $325

If you have any questions, please post them in a reply or in a PM.

Edit: We only want the .PSD files.

Someone pointed out in a PM that this contest has been posted on another website as well, with a higher prize. It looks like my partner (who is actually running the contest, I was just posting it on his behalf) posted it which was probably caused by a miscommunication issue between us. I was hoping to clear things up with him before anyone started working on this project, because of course we can't run the same contest on different websites with a different prize.

As soon as I catch him (hopefully today), I will post the update here. If you would like to wait with your submissions until this matter is cleared up I will definitely understand. I apologize for any misunderstanding this may have caused.

Thanks for your patience.

Okay things have been cleared up. Since the contest posted on the other website has a prize of $2,000, I will get a moderator to delete this thread and I will start a new one with the same prize.
