my webhost has now added a list of content managment systems that simply install with a click of a button via one of my available databases.

Drupal
Geeklog
Mambo Open Source
PHP-Nuke
phpWCMS
phpWebSite
Post-Nuke
Siteframe
Typo3
Xoops

anybody got experience with any of these and have preferences on which on is the best? I have a simple html sports information website and would like to expand myself a little with one of these. Any suggestions?

It really depends on what your needs are. Some of the CMS that are listed above are actually more like a portal or blog instead of a CMS.

I would really like to build an entire website with it. Several pages/sections, articles, news, etc..

You can give Mambo CMS a try... I use it and it suits what I need currently...

Use Mambo and PHPnuke, along with the hacks/mods and you should be pretty much able to do what you want to do.

I've tried pretty much all of those and I think mambo is probably your best bet. I am curious about Typo which has been recently added to my fantastico panel. I haven't tried that one yet, but it looks pretty good too.

As previously said, it depends exactly what you what from the CMS.
I've had good results with Geeklog, but then it fitted almost exactly what we wanted.

I tried most of those and ended up writing my own.

i use php nuke for a year .It has the biggest support comminuty with many support sites ,add ons, block, modules, themes, etc .But you must have time for follow security updates ,patches or for other updates beside the time you spend content of your site.I can suggest cpgnuke which more secure and growing cms from www.cpgnuke.com

edit/

i add two link for you to see how they look

php nuke sport site example

http://www.kneeboard-uk.com/
http://www.norton-club.net/

and this one use cpg nuke after their php nuke hacked
http://www.sportnexus.com/ ( not up much yet )

I love Mambo I'm just not sure about SEO. But, I know that the people who make mambo are always trying to improve things for it.

Does anyone know how well Mambo integrates with vBulletin? I've been looking at something for content at my golf site but it must integrate with vB.

Anyone have examples?

check out the mambo site. In the forums, they have a section for people to post their mambo powered sites.

I know that somebody is currently working on a component at http://mamboforge.net/ to integrate VB with Mambo.

Of all those I would say go with Xoops or Drupal for something quick. If you're willing to learn and install hacks, then Mambo.

i'm with everyone that says mambo or drupal as i felt they were the best of the php ones i tried. if i had to choose from that list, i'd go mambo, but i went with plone /zope instead due to its flexibility.
