I've seen the most amazing works of art come from these forums and I hope this won't be any different.

It has always been a dream of mine to have my own radio station online and it will soon be a reality. I need your help to make a logo for my station.

I have run a few contests before and everyone got feedback and the winners their payments. I also have all positive itraders.

What I Need: A logo for my Online Dance Radio Station.

Dimensions: Make it resizable, that's all. PNG or other vectorized file type ONLY!

What Should It Look Like: The logo should be unique. The reason I am paying this much for a logo (As my other logo contests have been for either $25 or $50 respectively) is because this has to be amazing, creative and different. It should also be fun for everyone who takes part as the station name and slogan call for a very creative play on words.

The Station Name: AscenDance Radio
The Station Slogan: "Taking Dance Radio To A Higher Level"
What Is It About: My station is about playing dance music that isn't influenced by big business executives or sponsors trying to promote their artists. It's all about people who love the genre of Dance Music. It's supposed to show Dance Radio Stations out there (FM, Staellite and Online alike) what they can be if they listened more to the their love for Dance music then playing shity mainstream remixes because it will score higher ratings.

Dance music is often called "Dance", "Techno", "Electronica" etc. Use Google or Google Images for a better idea as to what type of music this is.

That's it. Take the name and the slogan (The slogan doesn't have to be included in the logo but two versions would be nice) and go with it. Your logo does not have to play on the words "ascendance" but I think it's an artistic option that shouldn't be easily overlooked.

It can be shiney and web 2.0 with style (Remeber this is a dance radio station, not a business) like the layout here:

Take Note:
This site is geared more towards women. Don't go too girly by adding flowers as guys will come here too but the majority of listeners are women.
ASCENDANCE is often thought as a religious term. You don't have to have the logo be like "AscenDance" as "ascenDance" or any other forms are fine. Just make sure to emphasize SOMEHOW that this is a Dance Station NOT a Christian Station
The layout of the website/station has not been made yet (A WP Design that I have someone in mind to work on) so your logo will determine what the site looks like.

This is probably the hardest I have ever worked on a logo, and I worked so hard specifically on this one because I myself am a trance / Electronica fan. Everything I listen to is Electronica and I have it playing 99% of the time I am on the computer, which is basically... all day :(.

Here is my feedback. You guys/gals did an amazing job so far and it's easy to say these are the best starting entries I've seen not only in my past contests but most contests held on here. Alright here goes,

onixz100: Wow. All the hours you put in certainly shows. I love how the logo looks like it's exploding off the page. It's very creative. The only changes I can recommend is somehow make it shorter. Keep the stars but maybe place the bars somewhere else either within the stars or on the side?

The logo as it is is too tall. Also if you can make a bit more colorful other than the black and white and try a different font for the "ASCENDANCE" text. The last thing I can recommend is to try a different color scheme for the bars other than the rainbow, to go along with the new colors.

plugzzzz: I like the use of the silhouette girl except it's hard to tell what she's doing. I also like the word radio with the overlapping letters and colors. The only changes that I feel would make it better would be possibly using a different font for the "AscenDance" text as it looks kind of Microsoft Wordish right now. Also do something with the black swirls in the background. As it looks now the logo will be a rectangle with a black swirl background that ends abruptly at the rectangle borders.

katesrobyn: I like the different approach with the grunge but there needs to be a few changes. It's too dark at the moment. Also the station is "ascendance radio" not "ascenddance radio" and the slogan is "taking dance radio to a higher level" not studio. Also the "dance" in the slogan can be changed to anything else font wise.

surenther: I've always loved your work and this is no different. It's really hard to suggest any changes. It's vibrant and colorful. It has music notes and a turn table and wings to boot. I love it. The only thing I can suggest is maybe make the wings look more like wings, make the turntable bigger (Or use headphones or something musical), get rid of the rainbow and maybe try different colors in different places including the "AscenDance" text.

jackieh1791: I like the uniqueness of it and how colorful it is. The only suggestions I have are to change the font for radio as it is hard to read and try a different symbol for the row of dots on the left. Maybe something musical or dealing with "ascension"?

Sahil72: I like the tropical look. It's very nice. not sure what the green things above the "A" are and maybe get rid of the yellow bar underneath higher. Maybe try different colors? Still, it's very different and that's a good thing.

jharrvis: It's funny. You took some elements that I love (The silhouette of people dancing and the darker purple color) and incorporated it into your design without me mentioning it. I really love the glossiness of it combined with the people and colors. The only changes I can suggest is to make both sides even as the left currently moves in and the right doesn't. Also change the orange color of "Ascen" to possible the color from this logo (the neonish green),

If honestly speaking that doesn't match well with the purple then by all means change it to a color that does but not that orange. Also maybe try a different star or another shape for the hole in the A's. The big star reminds me of Texas every time I look at it. One final change as well is to change the person for the I to a female dancing, listening to music, etc. The person currently used for the I is making a motion which I don't understand.

jharrvis (Second Design): You do some really amazing work. I love the pulse sign and again the glossiness of it. Again though if you can change the orange color to the color from this logo (the neonish green),

shinan: I like the idea a lot. The only thing is most songs played on my station won't be using guitars so if you could replace them with people dancing and change the orange to more a color like the neonish green found in this logo, it would be much better.

Here is a different version :).

I added more colors with the rainbow whilst making the whole logo shorter. Incorporated the bars into the stars like you said and made them red to match the theme.

Also changed the font to something more futuristic (trance like). The preview here might look blurry, but the real image is much larger and clearer.

waiz86:I like the use of the lines on either sides of the word radio and just the general arrangment of the elements of the logo. What I suggest though is to get rid of wavey circles with either the same circles not wavey or other elements. Also if you could try to change the font for both radio and dance. Also try to use more vibrant / feminine colors.

My general feeling about this design is it is too simple. It needs more colors and since this is an online station it won't use any records as shown.

surenther: Still one of the most unique logos here. I
m really loving it the only tiny adjustments I can suggest would be to try using more vibrant/lighter colors for the background bars and main text. Possibly neonish.

Thanks for making the changes. There really aren't any more adjustments to be made to the design. I love the glossy look and change at the half way point of the letters as well as the incorporation of the clouds / sky and you've got to love dancing silhouettes!

It's really hard to find a way to improve this design but could you try adding dancing guys (About a 30/70 ratio to the women) (Also for the guys no gangster finger waving or any other gangster poses. Just dancing.) Now only for this design try different colors other than the neon green but keep the black. Try to use multiple colors that are lively, vibrant and a touch on the feminine side.

chlopzmazur:I like the unique background but the design has some issues. Could you try having a guy on the right hand side instead of having just two girls. Also can you create a border around the words ascendance so the words stand out more instead of just a big white blur. Same goes for words radio show and have it say "taking dance music to a higher level".

onixz100: The design is nearly perfect. Just a few more minor adjustments. Could you try and have the stars be in color? Also, for the bars, the colors you chose were great. Can you take all those colors and color each bar tower one of them on the same design? Have one design that has, for example, the first bar tower be pink, the second bar tower be blue, etc. as well as colored stars unless it's a big hassle. Then don't bother. None the less thanks for being flexible and provided such a work of art in the original and all the revisions.

surenther: Wow. It looks great!! I personally think it stands out more now. The last adjustment that I'll ask for is to make the border line around "AscenDance Radio" be white or a different color other than the dark green. None the less this design amazes me every time.

cool123: I really like the paint splash. and the overall abstract look to it. The only changes I would recommend is to use a lighter, possibly more feminine color other than yellow. Also replace the record and mics, keep the speakers, with possible music notes or other musical / "ascension" elements.

If everyone entering could do me a favor of including if they can do other graphical work for me in regards to this station (Such as business card design, banners (For promoting my station on other sites) , icons (fav icons, aim icons, etc.), buttons ("Request A Song", "E-Mail"), WordPress Themes (I have someone in line to do one for me now but I want to have a back up just in case design wise we can't see eye to eye), etc. PLEASE let me know! These services I'm asking for will be paid separately as the $75.00 goes towards the LOGO alone!

Since this is a LOGO contest it wouldn't be fair for me to judge the logos based on the ability to do other graphical work so rest assured WORK OTHER THAN THE LOGO WILL NOT BE A FACTOR IN DETERMINING A WINNER!!!

I have faith that if the person who wins this contest can't do the services listed above than someone else can take the winning entry source file and do it.

Although some might think $75.00 is a lot for a logo this is my baby and so it's worth every penny and even then it's not enough money for the amount of work and talent being put into these logos. I'm not sure how popular my station will be someday but if you blow me away with your logo I'm sure you will my audience and I want to give them the chance to have graphics made by you as well.

Here are the things I did:

I did the color changes to the bars as requested and tested out a version of the logo with rainbow colors with people along with just people. Personally, I like the addition of the rainbow behind the person, but that's subjective and the final decision is entirely up to you.

Oh and, I also colored the stars a little bit. If you notice, there is a hint of blue within their streaks. Having the stars actually colored makes it look super tacky and bad, so I decided to only colorize the streaks. I made them bluish.

If you need any alterations for coloring just tell me because I was just randomly choosing colors that were similar to the ones I showed you in the previous post. If you need them in a different order or want to request colors or remove them, just tell me :).

a4hire: I like the different almost cartoonish approach. The only suggestions I can make is to try one other element other than the purple circles.

onixz100: WOW! Those blue streaks added to the stars make it seem almost 3D. That's amazing. There's nothing else I can suggest. Thank you for the many revisions and making an absolutely amazing image!

zyndtel: I like the use of the "volume speedometer" and the female silhouettes. The only suggestions I have is to try another font for the text.

jharrvis: That's great!! I love the look, especially the new main woman. She's got a "bring it!" pose to her. also the sticker looking image is awesome! I can't think of any other changes that are needed. WOW! Thank you!!
