I checked out a monthly report for a successful linking campaign in which the website optimized was ranked #1 G for a few hundred good keywords. After analyzing the links, which averaged about 100 a month, I noticed that a large percentage were posted in completely irrelevant categories.
I always read that we should post in an appropriate category. Is this a strategy or a lazy seo? Possibly of no consequence? The majority of these directories claim to be human edited...What's up with that?

Like I said, I read that too... Does anyone have any experience with this?

may be you can try contacting the directory owners and move your links to proper category.

however, it will not hurt much.

They are not my links, rather a friends. I am learning every which way I can...
Besides, there are thousands of links like this.
My ? is whether this is an seo who doesn't want to take the extra 10 seconds to find the right category, may have run out of free directories to submit to, a strategy to get his anchor text (some directories won't let you post the category name as the link's title), or some other move. Does anyone know :confused:about this?

So if I submit my tag to a free directory, I will get links back? How so?
