Rightly said. StatCounter & Google Analytics is something you can bank on. There are other tools that has less gap between the live data caputing and displaying in the Analytics report. These tools (Omniture, WebTrends, NetTracker, ClickTracks) are expensive and licensed.

I use Google analytics extensively and the stats are pretty reasonable I think.

Google analytics too. But I know there is an analytics tools within apache server which is excellent.
But it need the priority to manage the apache serve and is hard to config.
I am not sure if is it called "AWS" ? I haven't use it yet.

I prefer Analytics although I question the number sometimes as it never aligns with AW or statcounter.

Use Omniture Site Catalyst. But it is too expensive...

Go ahead with Google Analytics (GA). The new analytics (ga.js) code will definitely get what you need from an analytics

I am really happy that people are recommending Google Analytics (I am not a Google Guy!). But I am not sure if anyone has really tested Google Analytics. It is very easy to just put a code on all the pages of the website. Its a factory job. I would definitely would like to know if anyone had done these few things:
1. configured it for ecommerce.
2. configured it to manage ppc campaign
3. configured it for other online mediums.

The likes of Omniture and Webtrends are streets ahead of Google Analaytics but they are very expensive, really they're aimed at large corporates with marketing departments who can use the more complete data for business decisions so it's really valuable to them. I'm not sure how Clicktrack, Omniture and Webtrends measure up in terms of cost or functionality though. I'd also be interested to hear from anyone who knows more about these.

For free, I think Statcounter is best. If you want to fork out a couple bucks, I really like Web CEO's suite.

I used to think Google Analytic is the best and it is my favorite so far but after using Woopra Live Stats, I have 2 favorites now. Using Woopra, you can see what are your users are doing, where they came from, using what keyword, and many more.

What about video analytics? I like to use ClickTale, a startup company that allows members to see what the vistors are doing on their site. You can actually see where the mouse is going, what users typed into forms, what they typed then deleted and did not submit. It's actually quite good and theres a free trial. Support is really good too. Check it out:

For me, my favourite Analytics Solution would be iWebTrack.
Fantastic and far far more informative than GA.
It also (unlike google) allows you to fully track each and every unique visitor's path through the site on a person to person basis.
The reports are a lot better than GA too.
I believe there is a 30 day trial as well (requires a CC)
The tracking is also real-time, which is very cool

And what about Histats? They provide fully detailed statistics of the last 20,000 visits. Has anyone used it?

I am using Histats and AwStats, but there a huge gap between the two.
Histats showed me 174 visitors and AwStats showed me 394 visitor.
On which should I rely?

I use statcounter + Google Analytics for my own sites. In my company I work on Omniture SiteCatalyst .
There is nothing like good analytics solution or bad, it all depends on how much you can pay and how much you want to take out of it..
