Links banner or text on high PR magazines/periodicals

I am noticing a huge number of sites that I am checking their backlinks have multiple -100's, up to 1000 or more backlinks in Yahoo from one site/magazine/periodical........The banner/link is on a page and the sites update daily, perhaps more often thus the linking party gets one back links per update- right?

These are likely paid links but leaving the issue aside as to paid links what is the value from a high pr site for hundreds of back links in this situation? Are you getting a PR7 link back 365 times a years times the number of years you have that link there? If so, and it appears this way, does anyone know how google views this, or Yahoo for that matter.

you are talking about sitewide links. sitewide links used to work like magic few years back. in fact, i was able to get my sites ranked high buying few sitewide links from big sites. they dont work the way they used to these days but i have seen few of my competitors still using them. so they must do some good.

I hadn't seen any in my niche, now they are popping up like crazy so I wondered what if any good they might do. I'm not one of those who would jump off a roof because someone else did it unless it works!
