View Full Version : Glossary: how to make one

I run a niche website and need to make a glossary for it. What are my options?

Can I collect entries from few glossaries available online?
Or can I use some offline resources?
Or should I make it myself writing all descriptions?

Does anyone have experience of that? What is common practice?

Thank you.

It depends on whether you want it to be searchable or if you are happy with a static html page. As long as you are not using hundreds of words then just one page will be fine. I created a mobile phone glossary (http://www.mad4mobilephones.com/mobilephoneglossary.php3) just on one page.

No, you did not get me. I talk about content, not page design.

If you want maximum seo benefit you need to write the content yourself. Copying it from elsewhere will probably end up with a duplicate content penalty.

Agreed. It is best to write it yourself; original content is important.

I would also suggest breaking the pages up if the word count starts getting high.
