I saw some auctions selling PR4, PR5 domains in ebay. Are they really worth buying?. After buying is it possible to pass this PR to any other domains?.

I suppose theres no such thing as easy money, looked like it had alot of potential, but I thought if it was any good he would'nt be selling it.

Those MFA sites are everywhere on ebay!

Depends on price. I wouldn'ta pay too much for a domain name just because it has a PR5. These page ranks have been fluctuating violently recently...What if the PR drops to 3 one week after your purchase...?

i would pay $10 at most to buy a pr5,usually those pr5s(on ebay) can't maintain a long time.

Why is that?

It has been said that a domains PR will or will not be retained depending upon a few situations. Exsisting traffic, backlinks, serp , etc.

If it was a PR 5 with backlinks, I'd say the purchase would be worthwhile.

I had a pr6 I bought off ebay drop to a pr3 a week later. I wouldn't recommend buying off ebay.

I registered a domain name about a year and a half ago. I redirected it to Yahoo.com because it was a name that bore some similarity to the search giant and forgot about the name. Six months later, just for kicks I typed the domain in at pagepank.net and saw that it had a PR4. This obviously had to be “Fake” pagerank because the name had no links pointing to it and had never been a real website or a parked page. As soon as I parked it at SEDO it returned to PR0.

Best wishes,
Kimmy

I would never buy a domain on eBay unless I really really wanted it.

I would bid on a domain based on its other credentials, not its pr. It may be possible to put link to other websites of yours on this pr5 to imrove their pr slightly, but this is only a possiblity, not a certainty. Also pagerank has little relation to traffic nowadays, which is what you will make more money from.

What is a good way to tell how much traffic a domain will/is generate?

If you don't have access to log files for the domain there is no real accurate way to assess traffic. Overture has a tool that you can use to check how many times the domain was typed into a Yahoo search box. This will give you a guesstimate of how many typins the domain gets per month. Still, a good overture score doesn't necessarily mean good traffic.

I should add that some domains might have a low US overture score but a high foreign overture score because it might be getting typein traffic from other countries.

That's actually not true. You can pass PR to your own sites through placing links from the purchsed page or even 301 redirecting the domain to your page.

As others have mentioned, check the PR of the site is real,
